"Coronavirus Can Also Enter Through the Eyes and Ears"

Turkish teacher Burcu Öner, who lives in China, made live statements on CNN Türk about the situation in the region and latest developments regarding coronavirus. Teacher Burcu Öner, noting that they do not use taxis and public transport, said: "We felt relieved after hearing the evacuation news and we are waiting. The embassy said to prepare. I have not left home for 7 days."  

Burcu Öner summarized her situation as follows in the live broadcast:

The consulate contacted us yesterday. We packed our belongings and we are waiting. I have not left home since the 23rd of the month. This virus is not transmitted only through air and breath. According to doctors here, protect your eyes with glasses, cover your ears, the microbe can enter through your eyes and ears microbe. It can pass through your skin, so due to their warnings we cannot open the window or door out of fear. I have not left home for 7 days.

Due to the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak affecting the entire country in China, deaths reached 170 and the number of infected persons reached 7,711.

According to a statement from the National Health Commission, the number of deaths across all cities, provinces, autonomous regions and special administrative regions affected by the outbreak reached 170. The number of people affected by the outbreak reached 7,711, with 1,370 in severe condition. The number of people suspected of carrying the virus was announced as 12,167, while those placed under observation due to contact with confirmed coronavirus cases reached 81,947. In addition, outside mainland China, the number of confirmed virus cases rose to 10 in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and 7 in Macau Special Administrative Region.   In the last 24 hours, 1,737 new coronavirus cases were detected nationwide, with 38 deaths. The number of patients discharged to date is 124. Of the deaths that have occurred in the country to date, 162 took place in Hubei, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus. One death each occurred in Sichuan, Hainan, Hebei, Heilongjiang provinces and in Beijing and Shanghai cities, while 2 deaths occurred in Hunan province. In Beijing, a directly administered city, 111 cases were detected, 101 in Shanghai, 27 in Tianjin, and 165 in Chongqing, while in Hubei province, the focal point of the coronavirus outbreak, the number of infected persons reached 4,586. Globally, coronavirus cases were detected in Thailand with 14, Japan with 11, Singapore with 10, Malaysia and Australia with 7 each, France and the United States with 5 each, United Arab Emirates, South Korea and Germany with 4 each, Canada with 3, Vietnam with 2, and Nepal, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Finland with 1 each.
