Kordsa Leaders Meet in Istanbul

Managers from Kordsa's production facilities worldwide gathered at the Global Leadership Summit this year, as they do every year. During the summit, in addition to sharing 2019 assessments and targets for 2020, renowned speakers such as Peter Marsh, author of The New Industrial Revolution, and Chris Barez-Brown, founder of Upping Your Elvis, delivered inspiring presentations.

As part of its annual Global Leadership Summit, which brings together leaders from all production facilities worldwide, Kordsa met in Istanbul on 7 January. Kordsa CEO Ali Çalışkan delivered the opening speech and emphasized the motto "Drawing inspiration from life to strengthen life," speaking as follows: "Since 2018, we have been undergoing rapid transformation through both acquisitions and new reinforcement technologies we have developed. We have deepened our competencies and expanded our scope of impact. Today, as a global player in the tire and construction reinforcement and composite technologies markets, we serve with more than 4,500 employees across 12 production facilities in five countries: Turkey, Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, and the United States. Going forward, in this changing world, by listening to people and drawing inspiration from their needs, we will continue to develop new technologies and strengthen more fields. With the competencies we have developed and our knowledge base, we now produce high-tech materials across a wide range spanning from tire reinforcement to aerospace."

Peter Marsh, author of The New Industrial Revolution, and Chris Barez-Brown, founder of Upping Your Elvis and transformation expert, also delivered horizon-expanding presentations. With his presentation on the circular economy, Peter Marsh underscored the importance of cooperation for a sustainable future and sustainable economy, stating: "As world population and living standards rise, consumption increases and resources deplete faster. This makes it necessary to reconsider the 'linear economy' model based on today's throwaway culture. The 'circular economy' model, which is based on zero waste and recycling, will increasingly take on responsibility. In a rapidly changing world, designing new technologies to enable the circular economy to function will be very important. Technology-developing companies have a major responsibility here. They will need to increasingly collaborate with other companies in different industries to design the most appropriate circular economy processes." Chris Barez-Brown, who believes "everyone is creative, what matters is knowing how to bring out that creativity," spoke on creative and innovative thinking: "

The best ideas never come to you while sitting at a desk; the best ideas always come when you feel comfortable and happy, and when you involve not just your knowledge but also your emotions in the work.

For the great creativity within us to awaken, we need to both think and feel at the same time. At those moments, our conscious and subconscious minds begin speaking to each other simultaneously, and that is when your creative process begins," he said. On the second day of the summit, all Kordsa reinforcement leaders gathered once again, as they do every year, to renovate a school in İzmit. This year, Kordsa, unlike previous years, in addition to renovating Akçaova Primary and Secondary School, launched a joint educational project with the Teacher Academy Foundation to support the professional and personal development of teachers at Akçaova Primary and Secondary School and surrounding schools. Addressing both the school renovation project and the collaboration with the Teacher Academy Foundation, Ali Çalışkan continued as follows: "As Kordsa, we strengthen life and the future. We view children and youth as guarantors of the future, and therefore we focus specifically on education. We are not only expanding our school renovation project, which we have been conducting for the past five years, regionally. We are also strengthening it in terms of content to touch more lives. In this regard, we collaborated with the Teacher Academy Foundation and, within the scope of the Foundation's 'Learning Leader Teacher' program, we strengthened teachers working at the renovated Akçaova Primary and Secondary School and surrounding schools."
