Out of Love for Fragrance
We perceive what is happening around us through our senses. Smell is one of our five senses. Just as we feel happy after tasting chocolate, we feel good and happy after smelling a pleasant perfume. The perfume we use, like our clothing style, hairstyle, and makeup, is one of the ways we express ourselves and create a difference.
Looking back at history, beautiful scents have aroused curiosity in people since ancient times. For example, it is said that in ancient Egypt, the mummies of the wealthy had various scents added to them so they would be pleasant in the afterlife. In ancient Greece, it is mentioned that women rubbed their bodies with aromatic oils.
During the Roman Empire, the term "per fum um" was used to refer to scents. With the Middle Ages, the use of soap and fragrance developed. The development of perfume continued in the 17th century in the city of Grasse in France, also bearing the influence of exotic scents from Eastern countries.
Later, various scents were added to perfume production. In the 17th century, perfume was generally used within royal circles and among influential people, but over time its use became widespread among the general population. In the 20th century, perfume became a sector in its own right.
Additionally, the designs of perfume bottles began to stand out as much as their scents. Today, perfume is among the indispensable consumer products that everyone uses in their daily lives.
MG International Fragrance Company is an established essence manufacturer with 56 years of experience, whose signature is behind many beautiful scents around you. Thousands of products, from perfumes to room fragrances; from cleaning products to cosmetics, are developed and manufactured by the experienced expert team of MG Gülçiçek.
In our laboratory, we design thousands of special scents using approximately four thousand fragrance raw materials brought from various parts of the world. We regularly review essence literature, update our analytical instruments, and expand our raw material and formulation library.
The raw materials that make up a perfume consist of several groups: naturals, synthetics, and bases. Naturals are obtained from plants found in nature through methods such as distillation and extraction. The extracted oil can be obtained from the plant's leaves, flowers, tree trunk, or roots.
Volatile oils obtained from the same plant grown in various parts of the world show nuances in their scents, and for this reason naturals are generally named according to the geography where they are grown.
Synthetic raw materials are produced in chemistry laboratories through organic synthesis. Finally, the bases mentioned are obtained from the mixture of various naturals and synthetics in different proportions or as a result of their reactions.
MG International Fragrance Company's "fragrance" collection consists of raw materials coming from many different parts of the world; from Brazil's rainforests to the fields of Europe and Indonesia.
Fragrance Adds Flavor to Our Lives
Essences are used to provide beautiful and pleasant scents to the places we live in and the items we use. To define an essence, we use the harmonious combination of top, middle, and base notes that have emerged over time. Top notes are the scents we feel immediately after applying the essence. These notes contain fresh, light, and volatile oils such as ginger root and citrus. Middle notes appear after the top notes and form the essence of the fragrance. Lavender, jasmine, and rose are among the middle notes we most commonly encounter. The blending of middle notes with base notes reveals the scent that forms the main theme of the essence. Base notes contain heavy and large molecules, so they are felt days after the application of the essence.Culture Also Has a Scent
Every country has a different fragrance culture. For example, while oriental and woody scents are preferred in the Middle East, fruity and floral scents are appreciated in the West. In Turkey, floral, fruity, and sweet scents, which are generally preferred in Mediterranean countries, are loved. Scent preferences can also change depending on the seasons and whether they are used at night or during the day. For example, while spicier scents are used in winter months, floral scents are preferred in spring, and fruity scents in summer. We Must Also Consider Our Skin When Using Perfume
In recent years, special attention has been paid to ensuring that essences produced, particularly those in baby products, do not contain allergenic raw materials. When examining the ingredients section on the back of perfume bottles, it is generally observed that only allergenic raw materials that need to be declared are listed. As the R&D Department of MG Gülçiçek, we pay special attention to ensuring that essences used in baby products do not contain allergenic raw materials. Using the GC/MS (gas chromatography/mass spectrometry) separation method, we analyze natural volatile oils obtained from nature and identify allergenic compounds they contain so that we design and produce essences suitable for use in baby products that do not contain allergens. In addition to this, every person's skin has a different scent. The scent of a perfume on the skin can differ based on eating habits, the climate of the place where one lives, perspiration, and smoking and alcohol consumption habits. As a result, scents now appear in every corner of our lives. For example, the perfumes we use in daily life, cosmetic products, fabric softeners, detergents, air fresheners, soaps, and candles. As you can see, scents are an indispensable part of our lives. As long as people's pursuit of beauty and aesthetics does not end in the world, the fragrance sector will continue to exist exponentially.
