KoçZer Establishes Company in Romania with Growth Target in Europe

Koç Group's corporate purchasing and supply chain management company KoçZer established its first company in Romania as part of its growth targets in Europe. KoçZer aims to launch its leadership journey in Europe with a sales volume of 100 million Euros in the Romanian market within three years.
Koç Group's corporate purchasing and supply chain management company KoçZer established a company in Romania as part of its growth strategy in Europe. The company, with the trade name Koçzer Romania SRL, will become KoçZer's center in Europe by integrating its structure, which offers indirect purchasing expertise in more than 130 categories, in a manner suited to market dynamics.
The event held in Bucharest to mark the establishment of the company, hosted by KoçZer General Manager Serhan Turfan, was attended by Türkiye's Ambassador to Romania Özgür Kıvanç Altan, as well as distinguished representatives from Turkish and Romanian business circles.
Ambassador Özgür Kıvanç Altan shared his assessment on the matter as follows: "Commercial relations between Türkiye and Romania are growing stronger every year. The presence of innovative and visionary companies like KoçZer in Romania will deepen these relations further, create new opportunities, and strengthen economic ties."
A strategic step towards European leadership
Speaking at the event, Serhan Turfan said: "As KoçZer, we have been providing our commercial services abroad for a long time. For companies operating in Türkiye, we find the products they want to source from any country in the world and mediate collaborations they can develop. We carry out the processes of sourcing demand coming from anywhere in the world through KoçZer's network of 61 thousand registered and reliable suppliers, with our strategic partners in 15 countries being at the forefront. Now, we are bringing our innovative solutions to a new region. We will create new collaborations and support businesses with digital and strategic supply solutions. This is one of the important milestones in KoçZer's history."
Serhan Turfan, pointing out that Romania is the biggest step in KoçZer's growth strategy abroad, as the company continues its international commercial services through strategic business partners currently positioned in 15 countries, said: "Because Romania is not just a strategic market for us, it is the first step of KoçZer's growth journey in Europe."
Expecting 100 million Euro sales volume in three years
Reminding that Romania, one of the European Union member countries, is one of the frequented markets for investors and entrepreneurs in Türkiye with more than 18 thousand registered Turkish companies and 10 million dollars of direct Turkish investment, KoçZer General Manager Serhan Turfan pointed out that many Koç Group companies are already actively operating in the Romanian market. He shared that KoçZer Romania will be responsible for these operations.
Noting that KoçZer Romania will start its activities in the country, which is also positioned among the direct investment areas for its existing customers, with the material supply function covering logistics as well as technical and industrial products, office supplies, raw materials and scrap, Serhan Turfan said: "Supply will be very different within the next 5 years, and as KoçZer, we will be among the pioneers of this change as always. We are determined to offer our customers innovative tools and strategies, such as the e-sourcing solutions of Promena, our strategic purchasing solution that supports businesses in optimizing their operations. Our customers in Romania will also be able to benefit from our technological products and services, especially Promena," stating that they have set ambitious targets for their Romanian operations.
Accordingly, KoçZer aims to reach a sales volume of 100 million Euros within three years. Again, within the first three years, the company expects to increase Romania's share in its gross profit abroad to 50%, obtaining 6% of the total volume from Romanian operations.
New countries are next
Noting that KoçZer, which has proven its leadership in Türkiye with 61 thousand suppliers and purchasing expertise in 140 different categories, has also carried its model beyond the country's borders with its strong distributor network covering 15 countries, Serhan Turfan said: "While adapting our model, which has proven successful in Türkiye, to the dynamics of the Romanian market, we will also focus on our strategic goals such as establishing new collaborations in neighboring countries and other EU markets. We believe that we will rapidly advance along this path with the support of our distributors in countries such as Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Switzerland. Going forward, we want to implement new projects by signing partnerships with associations, professional organizations, and industry centers in different countries such as Poland, Italy, and Dubai, and to support our stakeholders in purchasing matters thanks to our network and expertise in Türkiye."
Competing globally with purchasing technologies
Saying that 2023, the year in which our Republic celebrated its 100th anniversary, was also a new milestone for KoçZer, KoçZer General Manager Serhan Turfan said: "KoçZer, which has created a supplier ecosystem in Türkiye over 21 years and established purchasing as a business field and area of expertise, started 2024 with a new brand identity adopting the motto 'Today and tomorrow... KoçZer is by your side.' Our company, which manages a purchasing volume of 1.5 billion TRY, obtained 25% of its turnover from companies outside the group that are also on the Fortune 500 Türkiye list. While launching ZerGO, Türkiye's first B2B marketplace designed around workplace needs, we found the opportunity to expand our media and production purchasing consultancy services to also cover digital production and creative agency services with the acquisition of Digital Panorama. We will continue to work to make our proven models, which enable our customers to digitize, streamline and simplify their logistics, supply and purchasing processes, globally competitive with a technology and service company approach. We hope that KoçZer Romania will be beneficial to all our group companies, starting with our own company, and to our customers," he said.
