Significant Amendment to the KKDİK Regulation

A regulation amending the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) was published in the Official Gazette on 23 December 2023. This regulation contains significant changes. A tiered approach based on tonnage and classification has been introduced for notification deadlines. Under this framework, notification deadlines for substances manufactured or imported at annual volumes of 1,000 tonnes or more in their own form, in mixtures or in articles have been extended to 31 December 2026. For substances with acute aquatic toxicity 1 and/or chronic aquatic toxicity 1 (H400, H410) hazard classification at annual volumes of 100 tonnes or more, and for substances with carcinogenic, mutagenic and/or reproductive toxicity Category 1A or 1B hazard classification at annual volumes of 1 tonne or more, the deadline is also 31 December 2026. The deadline for substances manufactured or imported at annual volumes of 100 tonnes or more in their own form, in mixtures or in articles has been extended to 31 December 2028, and for those at annual volumes of 1 tonne or more to 31 December 2030.
