Green Transformation in the Chemical Sector

The standout trend in the chemical sector in 2024 is "Products Contributing to the Sustainability of Nature." Companies are focusing on contributing to sustainability through environmentally friendly production, as well as practices such as reducing carbon footprint, increasing resource efficiency, and waste management. Global climate change ranks among the most significant challenges facing the planet. Various human activities, including the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial farming practices, increase atmospheric greenhouse gas levels, causing global temperatures to rise. This leads to destructive impacts on ecosystems, increases the frequency and severity of natural disasters, and creates negative effects on human health. In this context, the adoption of sustainable production methods, particularly in the industrial sector, is of great importance for environmental protection. "The negative impacts are becoming increasingly felt" Drawing attention to the short and long-term effects of global climate change, Saruhan Kimya ve Temizlik Ürünleri A.Ş. Marketing Manager Başak Erdoğan, stated: "Today, we are feeling the negative effects of climate change, which is one of our greatest global challenges, more and more with each passing day. We are witnessing an increase in the frequency of extreme weather events such as rising global temperatures, excessive heat waves, droughts, and intense precipitation. This situation adversely affects agricultural production, threatens food security, and leads to the depletion of water resources. The melting of glaciers and ocean expansion are causing sea levels to rise. With climate change, the habitats of many plant and animal species are under threat. The extinction of species disrupts the balance of ecosystems, triggering chain reactions that negatively affect human life. All these problems we are experiencing will cause future generations to suffer even more. Therefore, we need to prioritize the sustainability of nature in all areas, both individually and collectively." "The trend standing out in 2024 is the sustainability of nature" Başak Erdoğan explained the importance of sustainable production in the chemical sector as follows: "Products in the chemical sector play a fundamental role in many areas of modern life. The sector, which provides services across a wide spectrum ranging from food to pharmaceuticals, from agriculture to cosmetics, also holds an important place in terms of environmental impacts. The adoption of sustainable production in the chemical sector is of great importance from environmental, economic, and social perspectives. Among the trends standing out in the sector in 2024, environment-friendly products that contribute to the sustainability of nature rank first. Issues such as climate change, resource depletion, loss of biological diversity, and environmental degradation require urgent action for a sustainable future. Practices such as reducing carbon footprint, increasing resource efficiency, and waste management enhance the sustainability of nature while also providing social and economic benefits." "We feel responsible for all living beings that share our planet" Emphasizing that sustainable production and natural life are among the most important subjects for Saruhan Kimya, Saruhan Kimya Marketing Manager Başak Erdoğan described their sustainability-related work as follows: "Producing nature-friendly solutions and using resources efficiently and effectively are fundamental elements of our corporate culture. With our nature-friendly products, while meeting the performance-focused consumer expectations to the maximum degree, we feel responsible for every living creature on Earth. We continue our work with our experienced R&D team to leave a more livable world for future generations. The environmental sensitivity of young generations in particular is one of our greatest motivations on this matter. I can say that we have broken the long-standing perception that ecological detergents were insufficient in terms of cleaning performance with our Life by Fakir ecological and vegan cleaning products. Our Life by Fakir products stand out with their entirely plant-based content and vegan nature. We have officially registered this with Ecomark and vegan certifications. Under our Life by Fakir brand, we have green series and baby series products. Our products contain plant-derived active ingredients and do not contain GMOs, SLS, chlorine, parabens, or dyes in their composition. In the production of our concentrated products, we use on average 75 percent less water compared to non-concentrated products. Those who choose our products indirectly contribute to preventing drought, which is today's problem. Additionally, in order to reduce the damage that packaging waste causes to the environment, we place emphasis on the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials. We continuously seek innovative technologies in increasing energy efficiency in our production facilities as well as in the use of renewable energy sources."
