Adil Pelister Named Chairman of the Chemical Industry Sector Platform
Approximately 40 civil society organisations and representatives from academic circles in the chemical sector have elected the Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB) to the 17th Term Presidency of the Chemical Sector Platform (KSP).
The new term began with the Chemical Sector Platform Board of Presidents Meeting held in Istanbul on 3 December 2019. Taking over the term presidency from Selçuk Gülsün, Chairman of the Plastics Manufacturers Association (PAGDER), İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister will serve as Chemical Sector Platform (KSP) President for two years.
Founded to address the fundamental economic and professional issues of the chemical industry and its sub-sectors, facilitate communication between stakeholders in the sector and the public, and resolve structural problems, the Chemical Sector Platform has continued its activities since 2004.
İKMİB Board Chairman and Chemical Sector Platform (KSP) President Adil Pelister
"For our chemical sector, we will do everything necessary on behalf of our association together. Over the coming two years, we will work to advance the chemical sector further and determine together what we can do for the benefit of the country, continuing our efforts in this direction. As you know, we have a sector with a very broad scope. Chemicals touch every sector. We have a sector that provides raw materials, semi-finished products or finished products to other sectors. We need to raise the perception of our sector and its contribution to the country. As our Trade Minister specifically noted, our chemical sector has recently been contributing significantly to our exports with rising momentum. In the first eleven months of 2019, we broke records by exceeding our figures from 2014 with USD 18.8 billion in exports. We expect to conclude this year with a figure above USD 20 billion, ranking second in exports. I believe that if investments in the chemical sector continue to increase in the coming period and if our sub-sectors maintain their unity, we could possibly reach the status of the first sector. I believe we can achieve this success by increasing communication with other sectors and the public, thereby strengthening the interaction between us. In the coming period, I promise that we will make more than our best efforts on behalf of our sector and work in direct contact with you. I thank you, the valuable stakeholders who make up the Chemical Sector Platform. God willing, we will do great things together."Advertisement
