Kalebodur’s Translucent Technology Brings Art Together with Light

Kalebodur supported Artweeks Istanbul’s “Collectors” edition as the main partner. At the event held at Akaretler Sıraevler, three of Türkiye’s major private art collections met with art lovers in a special space designed with Kalebodur’s Translucent Light-Permeable Porcelain Slab technology.

Following the preview held on September 16, the event will be open to visitors between September 17 and November 8, 2026, bringing together the collections of Banu & Hakan Çarmıklı, Öner Kocabeyoğlu and Tansa Mermerci. The exhibition can be visited free of charge in a venue outside the museum setting.

Art, design and architecture came together

At the opening, hosted by Kale Group Chairwoman and CEO Zeynep Bodur Okyay along with executives from Bilgili Holding and Artweeks Istanbul, Kalebodur’s Translucent technology was used in venue-specific applications. Kaleseramik Categories Marketing Director Selin Çevik Ersayın stated that art, design and architecture form an inseparable whole, and emphasized that they attach great importance to bringing these disciplines together with the audience in a public space.

Kale Group Chairwoman and CEO Zeynep Bodur Okyay noted that the group’s connection with art dates back many years, recalling that the Füreya Koral retrospective was also held at Akaretler in 2017.

Light moved into design with Translucent technology

One of the standout elements of the event, the Translucent Light-Permeable Porcelain Slab, was developed in just 3 millimeters thickness and 100x300 centimeter size. The technology allows light to pass through in a controlled manner while blocking direct visibility, creating a soft and homogeneous lighting effect within the space.

Three collections at Akaretler

Three different private collections meet with art lovers at Artweeks Istanbul’s “Collectors” edition. The Banu & Hakan Çarmıklı Collection, under the title “Reunion / Kavuşma,” reveals the transformation of a collection built around social issues and women artists.

The Öner Kocabeyoğlu Collection brings together 140 works by 91 artists in the exhibition “Passion and Patience,” curated by Levent Çalıkoğlu. The Tansa Mermerci Collection, under the title “Stillness and Turmoil,” presents works ranging from traditional art to contemporary art to the audience.

Artweeks Istanbul’s “Collectors” edition can be visited free of charge at Akaretler Sıraevler until November 8, 2026.
