Women Exporters Meet at İKMİB
The İstanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters Association (İKMİB) organised a meeting of women exporters operating in the chemicals sector on 21 January 2022.
The İstanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters Association (İKMİB) brought together women exporters operating in the chemicals sector at an event held on 21 January 2022. The event addressed the current state of the chemicals sector, its future and expectations regarding the sector. Participants had the opportunity to present ideas and solution proposals regarding sector-related issues.
Women Exporters of the Chemicals Sector Gathered at Event Organised by İKMİB
An event was organised by İKMİB on 21 January 2022. The event bringing together women exporters in the chemicals sector was attended by İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister, General Secretary of İMMİB Dr. S. Armağan Vurdu, Deputy General Secretary of İMMİB Aydın Yılmaz, as well as women exporters operating in the chemicals sector. Many topics relating to the sector were addressed at the event and solutions to sector problems were discussed."We Support Our Women Exporters in Taking a More Active Role"
İKMİB Board Chairman Adil Pelister made remarks and emphasised that women should hold more positions in management in the chemicals sector and have greater say. Pelister stated: "Our women exporters will constitute a great force for our sector. We believe women should have greater roles in management. As İKMİB, we support our women exporters in taking a more active role in our sector and we will continue to stand by them for this purpose." Pelister also shared the activities that İKMİB has carried out to date through the event held. Pelister stated: "Each year we conduct approximately 20 national pavilion participations in trade fairs targeting chemistry's sub-sectors. We conduct trade and purchasing delegations. We conduct UR-GE projects and trade delegations, virtual trade delegations, workshops, committee meetings, İMMİB Industrial Design Competition, İKMİB R&D Project Marketplace and similar competitions. As an association, we organise the annual İKMİB Stars of Exports Awards ceremony. This year we will also present awards to the successful exporters of 2021. Additionally, as İKMİB, we completed 694 green passport procedures in 2019, 311 in 2020 and 677 in 2021. As Turkey's second most exporting sector, our chemicals sector set a new record with USD 25.4 billion in exports in 2021. Our exporters' success in this regard fills us with pride," he stated.İKMİB Chemistry Technology Centre Holds Great Importance for Sector Development
Pelister noted that İKMİB currently chairs the Chemistry Sector Platform and indicated that they organised the Turkey Chemistry Sector Congress in March 2021. Sharing information about the Chemistry Technology Centre (KTM), İKMİB's most important project, Pelister said, "We aim to put into operation this year the İKMİB Chemistry Technology Centre, which holds great importance for the development of our chemistry sector. The KTM will enable companies in the chemistry sector to obtain certifications, provide accredited testing and laboratory services. It will also serve as an incubation centre for entrepreneurs with start-up areas, where research conferences can be held and which will have a digital library. As we continue feasibility studies on the KTM, we established our company with the approval of our Ministry of Commerce under the name 'Chemistry Research Technology and Innovation Centre (KATİM) Inc.' to carry out the KTM's operations. We will first start providing services to our paints and coatings, plastics and plastic products, cosmetics and rubber sectors," he said.Advertisement
