Composite Materials Used in Istanbul's New Sea Taxis
On the 170th anniversary of Şehir Hatları, the launch of sea taxis to be produced at Haliç Tersanesi took place with the participation of İBB Chairman Ekrem İmamoğlu.
İmamoğlu stated, "Maritime transport in Istanbul is not in the place it deserves. Its share in public transport is around 3 percent. We want to raise this to 10 percent or even higher. Our sea taxis will initially number 50 units. We can increase the number depending on demand. We plan to put them into service in summer 2021." İmamoğlu also noted that Istanbul residents will determine the color of the sea taxis.
Sea taxis, designed as a new application in Istanbul, are expected to begin service in the summer months. Composite materials are used in the sea taxis to be produced under the new project. Composite materials offer advantages for producing fast and cost-effective products.
Applied First Resin
Following this ceremony, İmamoğlu, together with Dedetaş, applied the first resin to the prototype of the sea taxi.
