New Graduates of the Innovation Campus Program Made a Difference with Artificial Intelligence Projects

Graduates of the artificial intelligence class launched at Yıldız Technical University under the Innovation Campus Programme, run by Samsung Electronics Türkiye in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Türkiye, presented their projects. Conducted in cooperation with the National Technology Academy Digital Learning Platform's Sector Campus Programme, launched under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the training process saw young people draw attention with projects developed using artificial intelligence with a focus on social benefit.
Samsung Electronics Turkey, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkey, presented projects from the latest graduates of the artificial intelligence class opened at Yıldız Technical University under the Innovation Campus Program. Conducted in partnership with the National Technology Academy Digital Learning Platform Sector Campus Program, which was implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the training process saw young people stand out with projects developed with a focus on societal benefit using artificial intelligence.
Projects evaluated by expert academics in the field were completed with an awards ceremony for outstanding work at the final event.
Young people used artificial intelligence for sustainability
Since 2019, the Innovation Campus Program, run in cooperation between Samsung Electronics Turkey and UNDP Turkey, continues to connect young people with the digital skills of the future.
Participants trained in the artificial intelligence class at Yıldız Technical University gained competencies in data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence modeling and problem-solving, while developing projects focused on societal benefit in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the final event, projects were evaluated by a jury composed of distinguished academics, and outstanding work was recognized with awards.
AI-supported projects drew attention
Among the projects highlighted in the finals was a study focusing on the environmental impacts of social media use. Developed by Cihan Özsoy, Ahmet Emir Cengiz and Begüm Erdoğan, the project analyzed the impact of social media use on the digital water footprint using artificial intelligence models, making the environmental effects of digital habits measurable.
Another project focused on health and education was developed by Kübra Tuğçe Kızılboğa, Feyza Nur Aydınoğlu and Regaip Tanberk Ay. The team analyzed factors affecting life expectancy in European and Asian countries, revealing the impact of variables such as health investments, education level, access to clean water and digital infrastructure on life expectancy.
The first of the projects sharing third place was developed by Emre Başoğlu and Barkın Atmaca. In the study, an artificial intelligence model was created to predict global carbon emissions using 20 years of data from 176 countries, and the effects of fossil fuel use were analyzed.
Another third-place project was developed by Faruk Kılınç, Fatmagül Kaya and Roza Maiko Akın. The team examined socioeconomic factors affecting electricity access in schools, evaluating the relationship between educational infrastructure and energy access through artificial intelligence models.

"Discover Your Superpower With Artificial Intelligence" Session
At the final event, artist Beyza Doğuç and Oğuz Ergen, a young leader from Generation17 and environment and climate activist, also met with the young people. The session titled "Discover Your Superpower With Artificial Intelligence" addressed the role of artificial intelligence in creativity, arts and societal impact.
Young people had the opportunity to gain different perspectives on technology's contributions to individual and societal transformation.
Young people preparing for future technologies
Samsung's global Innovation Campus Program aims not only for young people to acquire technical knowledge, but also to develop competencies such as problem-solving, analytical thinking and project development.
More than 90 percent of young people who have graduated from the program supported by mentoring from Samsung Turkey and UNDP Turkey professionals have entered employment. Over the past five years, the program, which has received more than 25,000 applications from 200 universities across Turkey, continues to connect young people with future technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.
