Statement from the Pharmaceutical Industry Employers' Union
"Our members continue to supply warehouses with medicines without interruption"
"In recent days, various media outlets have published reports suggesting that certain medicines are unavailable on the market, timed just before the announcement of the Euro exchange rate that will apply to drug prices in the coming period. In response to these reports, we feel compelled to make a statement as the Pharmaceutical Industry Employers' Association (İEİS). The İEİS, representing 56 members comprising both national and multinational companies in our pharmaceutical industry, which has deep historical roots, has been working for Turkey for over half a century along the path it has set in line with its principles and objectives. Our members continue their operations with great sensitivity and responsibility regarding public health at all times. In this context, we wish to clearly state that our members continue to supply medicines to warehouses without any interruption, as they always have. The subject is also being closely monitored by our Ministry of Health within the scope of the Medicine Tracking System Application. Through this system, all stages of the medicine from manufacturer to patient are monitored by the Ministry. The system makes it possible to identify the source of any interruption and take action accordingly. We wish it to be known that under the İEİS umbrella, it is not possible to accept any commercial behaviour that does not prioritize public health. We respectfully inform the public that we monitor any and all claims that, contrary to our founding principles, endanger public health and negatively affect the reputation of our sector."Advertisement
