Istanbul Association of Chemical Substances and Products Exporters (İKMİB) is implementing an important social responsibility project through its 'Chemical Sector's Fight Against Poverty Project', which aims to reach socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals. The project covers individuals living in areas where economic inequality is felt acutely, such as Gaziosmanpaşa, Esenler, Esenyurt, Bağcılar, Sultanbeyli and Sultangazi, while also addressing the chemical sector's shortage of qualified personnel. As the project approaches completion after running since October 2016 and reaching 100 people, of whom at least 25 are women, project activities continue at full pace. İKMİB, which has undertaken important work for the development of the chemical sector and increased exports, is addressing the sector's skilled workforce shortage by making 100 socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals professionally qualified through the Chemical Sector's Fight Against Poverty Project. The aim is to expand the scope of the project, which addresses a significant social need, and continue it in the coming years. Under the "Social Integration of Disadvantaged Groups and Development of Their Employability Grant Programme" carried out by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the European Union and the Directorate of EU Financial Aid, the 'Chemical Sector's Fight Against Poverty Project' provides certified vocational training to 100 people to be brought into the sector based on results from HR Needs Analyses. Furthermore, a Human Resources Portal will be created and a matching system will facilitate their entry into the labour market. Following the HR Analyses and Vocational Training, the accelerating Project also conducts workshop activities to raise social awareness. Workshops were held in the project on "Chemical Sector HR Overview", "Social Discrimination and Prejudice" and "Informal Employment and Child Labour". Developments related to the İKMİB-Chemical Sector's Fight Against Poverty Project can be followed on Facebook and www.istekimya.com.
