More than 120 customers and partners gathered in Istanbul in mid-May to observe firsthand the exciting targets and expectations of Dow's Packaging and Specialty Plastics (P&SP) business unit for the coming period. At the event titled "Sharing the Future," customers and partners from Turkey and abroad came together to enjoy a presentation containing the latest developments and met with the people behind breakthrough innovations. The event marked the first gathering organized by Dow's P&SP business unit following its integration as part of the DowDuPont Materials Science division. Built around a sharing theme, this highly interactive event was designed with collaboration in mind and aimed to foster mutual dialogue between Dow and forward-thinking market leaders, encouraging participants to share innovations, experiences, expertise and successes. Sameh Attalah, Sales Director for Packaging and Specialty Plastics Middle East, Turkey and Africa, said, "The DowDuPont merger has given us not only significant growth potential but also the opportunity to bring deeper and stronger technology capabilities to the market.
"This event was a wonderful opportunity to carefully listen to what our customers need from us and to demonstrate how we can leverage our broad portfolio in taking packaging and specialty plastics technology to an entirely new level."
İhsan Necipoğlu, President of Dow Turkey and Central Asia, said, "The fact that Packaging and Specialty Plastics (P&SP) has chosen Turkey to hold its first event with its new structure and expanded portfolio is an indication of how important a market Turkey and surrounding countries are for these sectors. This market, which is key to growth, is highly open to innovation and solutions. For this reason, sharing opportunities, sharing expertise and sharing success are important." Participants had the opportunity to examine in detail innovations in packaging, health and hygiene, infrastructure and transportation, solutions and technologies that drive sustainability goals and processing efficiency aimed at providing competitive advantage. Packaging and hygiene were grouped around three core concepts: Bring Fresh to the Table, Transport Safely and Active Comfort. This underscored how a broad portfolio was being presented that focuses closely on resource efficiency while considering the end user, from product protection to waste reduction through down gauging.
The Infrastructure, Consumer and Transportation (ICT) segment, which recently joined the Packaging and Specialty Plastics business unit, also highlighted safety, mobility and durability under the theme of Sharing Opportunities.
Following the customer and business partner event, a discovery tour was organized for media, and Turkish journalists had the opportunity to gather information from Dow experts and become personally acquainted with newly developed applications. Participants had the chance to touch and feel new solutions and conduct question-and-answer sessions with technical and marketing experts through presentations and a subsequent experiential prototype tour. Developments for the future were everyone's priority. Among the exhibits were pacXpert™ and PoucHug™, a warm, organic and soft innovative product packaging that enabled the transition from traditionally heavy, rigid packaging to flexible pouches that reduce shipping costs and minimize waste. The area dedicated to more sustainable packaging was a particular focus of attention. Here, solutions were presented such as ADCOTE L86-500 Barrier Adhesive, which enables breakthrough designs in barrier structures that drive recycling, and SURLYN™ tie-layer resin, which improves packaging performance while using less polymer per package and minimizes food waste. The tour also showcased the breakthrough technology behind INNATE™ resins, which provide new solutions in down gauging for shrink film packaging, and the transformative benefits of highly differentiated ASPUN™ MB in comfort applications for hygiene. Additionally, one of the notable products displayed in the transportation section was Nordel EPDM. Nordel EPDM is used in the transportation industry in compositions for hood seals and underhood hoses. Nordel EPDM is also used in building profiles in the construction sector. Alessandro Corticelli, Sales Director for Infrastructure, Consumer and Transportation for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region, said, "This game-changing merger offers wonderful opportunities to make very significant changes in numerous applications. Moreover, it was tremendous to feel the energy of people pioneering innovation across many different sectors." Corticelli added, "With greater collaboration, creativity and commitment, combined with DowDuPont's customer passion, we can achieve many more game-changing and sustainable developments in the future."
