Collaboration to Support the Startup Ecosystem The Turkish Presidency Investment Office and Teknopark Istanbul have signed a memorandum of understanding with Born2 Global Centre, adding another international partnership. Under the memorandum signed with Born2Global Centre, a global startup acceleration institution operating under South Korea's Ministry of Science and Technology, the aim is to identify and promote mutual investment opportunities between the two countries and create the groundwork for proper partnerships. The Turkish Presidency Investment Office, Teknopark Istanbul and South Korean global startup acceleration institution Born2Global Centre have signed a memorandum of understanding to support startups between the two countries. According to the agreement, cooperation will be conducted between Turkey and the Republic of South Korea through the Turkish Presidency Investment Office, the official body that promotes Turkey's investment opportunities to the global business community and supports investors before, during and after their entry into Turkey. Under this framework, the parties will support and develop investment partnerships, thereby providing effective support to startups in South Korea and Turkey. Additionally, the mutual exchange of highly qualified talent and promising startups will be facilitated, encouraging partnerships and collaboration in innovation and deep technology ventures. Within the framework of cooperation between Teknopark Istanbul, affiliated with the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO), and Born2Global Centre, affiliated with South Korea's Ministry of Science and Technology, entrepreneurs from the two countries will move more freely and receive support in each other's countries through exchange programs. With the involvement of the Presidency Investment Office and based on the principle of reciprocity, the best possible conditions for cooperation activities will be provided to entrepreneurs from both countries, in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations of each nation. The signing ceremony for the partnership concerning entrepreneurs from both countries was attended by A. Burak Dağlıoğlu, Head of the Presidency Investment Office, and Bilal Topçu, General Director of Teknopark Istanbul, representing Turkey, while JongKap Kim, CEO of Born2Global Centre, represented the Republic of South Korea.   Continuing Our Leading Role Abroad Teknopark Istanbul General Director Bilal Topçu stated that they have opened the region's largest entrepreneurship center through Cube Incubation incubation hub and are leaders in many categories. Saying they are working continuously to extend their leading role in Turkey internationally, Bilal Topçu said: "Among developing technology parks aged 5 to 10 years, we ranked first in Turkey last year. In many other areas, not only do entrepreneurs emerging from our organization implement successful projects and win awards, but they also sign important deals abroad. Today, together with the Presidency Investment Office, bringing this partnership with our counterparts in the Republic of South Korea to life will take our entrepreneurs' success trajectory even higher." USD 1.6 Billion Investment in Turkish Entrepreneurs in 2021 A. Burak Dağlıoğlu, Head of the Presidency Investment Office, noted that Turkey has managed to attract serious investment thanks to its entrepreneurial business culture, young and technology-enthusiastic population, talented engineering pool, and competitive products and services. He stated: "In 2021, in early-stage investments, approximately USD 1.6 billion was invested across 294 investment rounds. While international investors participated in 44 of the investment rounds, international investors accounted for 89 percent of the investment amounts. In 2022, investments in technology startups continue to increase. Today, as representatives of the two countries at the easternmost and westernmost points of Asia, we believe this partnership, which will open the doors to a new era for us, will further strengthen our startup ecosystems with a win-win policy. As the Presidency Investment Office, we are aware of the importance of technology entrepreneurship and are committed to attracting international direct investment in this field. We invite South Korean funds and startups led by Born2Global, and Turkish stakeholders led by Teknopark Istanbul, to jointly enter global markets." Deep Technology Collaboration Between Two Nations to Develop Pointing out that technological cooperation between the two countries will develop under this memorandum, Born2Global Centre Board Chair JongKap Kim said: "This memorandum of understanding will form the foundation for collaboration between technology companies in South Korea and Turkey by opening the way for potential technology partnerships, joint ventures and shared investment opportunities. Born2Global Centre will continue to cooperate with other important ecosystem organizations in Turkey alongside the Turkish Presidency Investment Office and Teknopark Istanbul to build deep technology partnerships between two great nations."
