GEBKİM and Kocaeli University Launch Healthcare Support Project

Under the comprehensive cooperation agreement signed, GEBKİM Foundation will contribute to the Semahat Aracı Oncology and Palliative Care Centre at Kocaeli University's Umuttepe Campus and to the newly established Good Education Centre. Employees of companies in the GEBKİM Chemical Specialisation Organized Industrial Zone will receive healthcare services from the Semahat Aracı Oncology and Palliative Care Centre as well as from other medical facilities at Kocaeli University. The cooperation agreement between Kocaeli University and GEBKİM Education, Research and Health Foundation was signed at a ceremony held recently. The protocol, signed by Kocaeli University Rector Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü and GEBKİM Education Research and Health Foundation Board Chairman Vefa İbrahim Aracı, envisages comprehensive cooperation in healthcare and education. GEBKİM Education, Research and Health Foundation will provide equipment and furnishing support to the Semahat Aracı Oncology and Palliative Care Centre, established in honour of the mothers of the Aracı Family at Kocaeli University's Umuttepe Campus West Campus. It will also contribute to the technical equipment and furnishings of the Good Education Centre building, whose construction is ongoing at Kocaeli University, and the Burns Centre. In return, patients requiring medical care who work at participating companies and factories in the GEBKİM Chemical Specialisation Organized Industrial Zone will receive medical care and healthcare services at the Semahat Aracı Oncology and Palliative Care Centre and at other medical facilities within the university.

Additionally, employees working at companies and factories in the GEBKİM Chemical Specialisation OSZ will be able to receive treatment at the Burns Centre within Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine, in intensive care units and at other medical facilities.

GEBKİM Foundation and Kocaeli University, meeting on common goals in healthcare and education, will also work together on Occupational Health and Safety matters. Employees of companies in the OSZ will receive Occupational Health and Safety training from specialist doctors and health personnel at the relevant units of Kocaeli University. On the other hand, GEBKİM OSZ employees will also receive First Aid Training at the Good Education Centre where Kocaeli University continues its work. Kocaeli University Rector Prof. Dr. Sadettin Hülagü said, "I extend my thanks to the entire GEBKİM management, particularly Vefa İbrahim Aracı and Zümran Aracı, for the equipment and furnishing support provided to the Oncology and Palliative Care Centre and for the technical equipment support provided to the Good Education Centre." GEBKİM Education Research and Health Foundation Board Chairman Vefa İbrahim Aracı stated at the signing ceremony: "With the protocol we signed with Kocaeli University, we have laid the foundation for long-term cooperation. As a foundation, we are pleased to support the valuable work our university is conducting in the fields of healthcare and education. We have realised a valuable cooperation that will improve the quality of life of our companies and employees in the GEBKİM Chemical Specialisation OSZ and facilitate their access to healthcare services. We believe in the development of education in all fields and attach great importance to Occupational Health and Safety training. We support the Good Education Centre to be established at Kocaeli University Umuttepe Campus from this perspective and believe it will bring important gains to our chemical industry. Our cooperation will continue and strengthen further from now on," he said.
