Watch Out for Your Home Radiators: They May Be Increasing Your Energy Consumption by 30%

Radiators, which keep our homes and workplaces warm in cold weather, play an important role in efficient heating. This is because the thermostatic valve in the radiator controls how much heat the radiator emits, maintaining the ideal room temperature and preventing unnecessary energy consumption. However, a radiator with a faulty thermostatic valve can increase heating-related energy consumption by up to 30%.

Radiators keep our homes and workplaces warm in cold weather and play an important role in efficient heating. This is because the thermostatic valve in the radiator controls how much heat the radiator emits, maintaining the ideal room temperature and preventing unnecessary energy consumption. However, a radiator with a faulty thermostatic valve can increase energy consumption from heating by up to 30 percent.

EVJET General Coordinator Volkan Demir warned citizens about 'thermostatic radiator valves' that have reached the end of their service life.

To heat homes or workplaces comfortably and efficiently in winter, radiator maintenance must not be neglected. This is because malfunctions in heating systems during cold weather not only compromise comfort conditions but also place a significant financial burden on budgets.

"A radiator with a faulty thermostatic valve can increase energy consumption from heating by up to 30 percent," said EVJET General Coordinator Volkan Demir, warning citizens about 'thermostatic radiator valves' that have reached the end of their service life:

Prevents unnecessary energy consumption

"The performance of radiators used in living spaces is determined by thermostatic radiator valves. Each radiator has a pair of radiator valves. One controls the amount of hot water entering the radiator, while the other controls how much heat the radiator emits, maintaining the ideal room temperature and preventing unnecessary energy consumption.

"Every 1°C temperature increase means 6 percent higher energy consumption"

However, over time, thermostatic radiator valves that reach the end of their service life increase energy consumption from heating in homes or workplaces. This is because a faulty thermostatic radiator valve does not sense the room temperature, and even when the system reaches the desired temperature, the radiator valve does not stop the flow of hot water. This means the radiator operates more than necessary and generates more heat. Every 1°C temperature increase means 6 percent higher energy consumption. For this reason, unnecessary or excessive heating causes energy consumption in some homes and workplaces to increase by up to 30 percent.

Compromises comfort conditions

Moreover, a faulty thermostatic radiator valve not only harms the budget but also compromises comfort conditions in living spaces. For this reason, having periodic maintenance performed once a year is of critical importance.

As EVJET, with our expert teams in the field, we offer our customers safe, economical and guaranteed solutions regarding boiler and radiator maintenance," he said.
