ETİ Bakır A.Ş. Ensures Safety of Mine Workers

ETİ Bakır A.Ş. Partners with DuPont™ Tyvek® for Underground Miners' Safety ETİ Bakır A.Ş. collaborated with DuPont™ Tyvek® brand to ensure workplace and worker safety at its Küre Operations, where it conducts underground mechanized metal mining activities. Kazım Küçükateş, Project and Underground Mining Director at ETİ Bakır A.Ş., stated that the company places human health and safety at the forefront, and emphasized that they monitor all new solutions in matters of health, safety and comfort. ETİ Bakır A.Ş. Küre Operations, which produces 1,450,000 tons of Run-of-Mine Copper Ore, 170,000 tons of Copper Concentrate and 400,000 tons of Pyrite Concentrate annually through underground mining, entrusted worker safety, health and comfort to DuPont solutions. DuPont™ Tyvek® 500 HV coveralls, manufactured using Tyvek®, one of DuPont's brands, became the number one safety equipment at Küre Operations. Officials noted that ETİ Bakır A.Ş. Küre Operations features an underground system reaching 960 meters with road tunnels spanning more than 40 kilometers in length, and emphasized that the need for work machinery and workers to operate in the same tunnels made worker safety imperative, citing their choice of DuPont™ Tyvek® 500 HV coveralls. Kazım Küçükateş, Project and Underground Mining Director at ETİ Bakır A.Ş., said: "Because we are a mechanized mining operation, we require many different work machines during our activities. Currently, approximately 80 work machines operate in our mine. In a mine with so many work machines operating, high visibility for workers is essential. For this reason, we prefer fluorescent colors and top-class reflective strips in our underground work clothing. Thanks to the DuPont™ Tyvek® 500 HV coveralls we have been using for 3 years, we have ensured that our workers have high visibility and can be easily noticed by machine operators."

Küçükateş also emphasized that single-use coveralls provide a cost advantage because they are more cost-effective than standard worker coveralls in oily, dirty and chemical environments.
