ESO Chairman Kesikbaş Announces University Plans
Eskişehir Sanayi Odası Chairman Celalettin Kesikbaş shared information that work has begun on the "Eskişehir University of Fundamental Sciences," which will contribute to the country's vision in fundamental sciences and become one of the most successful examples of public-university-industry cooperation.
Kesikbaş, stating that feasibility studies will be launched at the earliest possible time in line with the joint expertise and needs of Eskişehir Sanayi Odası, private sector companies, public institutions and universities, said that Eskişehir University of Fundamental Sciences will provide education in Natural Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.

Kesikbaş, saying that Eskişehir University of Fundamental Sciences and an Advanced Materials Research Center, which could potentially be transformed into an institute at a later stage, have significant potential especially for cooperation with Europe and America, emphasized that such a scientific hub would add tremendous value to Eskişehir's vision and brand. Stating that they also plan to include a research center dealing with advanced and derivative materials within the University of Fundamental Sciences, for which feasibility studies will commence, Kesikbaş explained as follows: "Eskişehir is richly endowed with resources, particularly in boron and thorium as well as rare earth elements. Advanced and derivative materials used in many fields from fiber optics to satellite communications, from smart missiles to fuel cells; prominent in sectors such as aviation, defense, space and medicine—will enter every field of production in the near future.
