ELIX Polymers Renews Environmental Cleanup Efforts with Clean Sweep Operation

ELIX Polymers, a leading producer of ABS resins and compounds, has joined Operation Clean Sweep (OCS), an international program designed to eliminate pellet, flake and powder losses and prevent these materials from entering rivers and oceans. Marine litter is a global concern affecting all the world's oceans, and this specific program represents a contribution by plastic producers and processors to prevent this issue from occurring. The program aims to prevent marine litter through circular economy initiatives, intensive training, awareness campaigns and programmes for society. The scope of this program encompasses polymer and compound producers, carriers, bulk terminal operators, processors and recyclers at every step of the supply chain. Participation in the Ocean Clean Sweep program is just one of ELIX's efforts to protect the environment. OCS is a voluntary management program for plastic production and processing facilities jointly implemented by the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS, formerly SPI) and the American Chemistry Council Plastics Division (ACC). Established in the United States over 25 years ago, OCS is now increasingly becoming global in scope. The program is currently implemented in 23 countries worldwide. In the European plastics industry, implementation of the OCS program is coordinated by PlasticsEurope. ELIX Polymers is participating in this program as a member of PlasticsEurope. Operations Director David Castañeda confirmed ELIX Polymers' commitment to the Clean Sweep (OCS) program at a signing ceremony held at the company's headquarters in Tarragona, Spain. Iberian Region Manager Ignacio Marco attended the event. PlasticsEurope OCS has provided companies with a handbook, checklists, guidelines and other resources and tools containing information that can help prevent the spread of plastic pellets, flakes and powder. By implementing the program within our organization and with our partners, we will be taking a forward-looking step."
