20 Million People Worldwide Have Cancer

4 February is celebrated worldwide as "World Cancer Day". The World Cancer Day platform brings together organizations and individuals involved in cancer-related work to educate society on cancer prevention (quitting smoking, healthy eating and exercise), identify carcinogens that cause cancer (particularly tobacco use and obesity), and provide training on cancer screening, early diagnosis and treatment. According to the World Health Organization, 20 million people were diagnosed with cancer globally last year, 10 million people died from cancer, and this figure has increased particularly in developing countries like ours. The Breast Health Association (MEMEDER), since its establishment in 2007, has been an institution that educates women on breast cancer and has conducted free mammography, ultrasonography and examination screenings on 10,000 women over a 10-year period, referring them to treatment. The association continues its screening program this year. On "4 February World Cancer Day", MEMEDER has prepared a screening project using EMAR imaging in addition to its community-based mammographic screening program for women at high risk of breast cancer, and is also informing residents in the areas where the screening program is implemented about cancer prevention and cancer control.
