Global automotive giant to manufacture vehicles in Kocaeli

Volkswagen's new-generation 1-tonne commercial vehicles will also be manufactured at Ford Otosan's Yeniköy plant in Kocaeli. Within the framework of the strategic partnership between Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen, Volkswagen's new-generation 1-tonne commercial vehicles will be produced at Ford's new plant in Kocaeli. Ford Otosan has begun production at the Yeniköy plant, which it redesigned with a EUR 2 billion investment. The Yeniköy plant, Turkey's only factory capable of manufacturing both internal combustion and electric vehicles, will also serve as the production hub for Volkswagen's new-generation 1-tonne commercial vehicles. The Yeniköy plant has an annual production capacity of 245,000 units, and this capacity is expected to reach 405,000 units once investments are completed. The first vehicle produced at Yeniköy was the new-generation Ford Transit Custom, while the fully electric E-Transit and E-Tourneo Custom are also manufactured there. Since the plant opened, it has also provided employment for hundreds of people.
