Hygiene Supplies Being Produced for Earthquake Victims

Producing Hygiene Products for Earthquake Victims Teachers and students at Ahi Evran Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, who met an important need during the COVID-19 pandemic by producing disinfectants and hygiene materials, mobilized after the earthquake and delivered 5 tons of dishwashing detergent and hygiene kits to the affected region. School Principal Halis Karabulut said that shortly after the earthquake, they organized quickly and produced 600 liters of dishwashing detergent to clean the equipment of those going to the region to prepare food in the first phase.

Karabulut stated the following:

"We produced and sent hand disinfectant, cologne, bleach and liquid soap to meet the needs. After that, we will produce herbal hand disinfectant, which we have the patent for, and send it to the earthquake zone. We are particularly thinking about meeting all the needs of Kahramanmaraş. In the first phase, we sent 600 liters of dishwashing detergent, and in the second phase, 4.5 tons of cologne, hand disinfectant, liquid soap and bleach-type products. Our students really came voluntarily and did the production even though they were on mid-term break without any payment. I thank all of them."

"We couldn't sleep in our homes"

Chemistry Laboratory Field Manager Abdulkadir Baysal also recounted how his students called him after the earthquake and expressed their desire to come to school and engage in production. Baysal said that after overcoming the shock of the earthquake, they began production at the school: "The students said 'we will work for free, we cannot stay in our homes, we are going through difficult times, if necessary let us go there.' We said 'this is our place, this is where we can be most helpful to people.' We immediately began production and sent what we made. From now on, whatever we are asked to produce, we will produce it and deliver it to the region." he said. Eleventh-grade student Emre Taş, who participated in production voluntarily, expressed that they were very sad and trying to do whatever they could for the earthquake victims, saying: "While our brothers and sisters were in that condition, we couldn't stay here. Despite being on mid-term break, we didn't sleep in our homes and came to start production." Student Mustafa Bilgili also said that they came to school voluntarily and produced hygiene materials for earthquake victims without requesting any payment.   Source
