In our country, the second week of January is celebrated every year as Energy Efficiency Week. Approaching the issue of energy efficiency from a social responsibility perspective, İzocam is issuing some warnings specific to this week.

For a country that imports most of its energy, raising awareness about energy efficiency is of paramount importance.
Energy Efficiency Week is celebrated in our country during the second week of January each year. İzocam, which approaches the issue of energy efficiency from a social responsibility perspective, is offering special recommendations for this week. İzocam General Manager Nuri Bulut emphasizes that significant gains can be achieved for family and national economy through certain measures. Our country imports the vast majority of its energy needs. In 2015, the amount paid for energy raw material imports totaled 37 billion dollars, representing approximately 18% of the total import figure. According to the Medium-Term Program (OVP) (2017-2019) announced by the Ministry of Development, Turkey's total imports in 2016 are expected to reach 198 billion dollars, with 27 billion 500 million dollars of this anticipated to be spent on energy imports. From this perspective, energy imports hold a significant share in the foreign trade deficit…
İzocam General Manager Nuri Bulut stated: "Awareness regarding energy efficiency in our country is gradually increasing. However, it has not yet reached the desired levels. To reduce the current account deficit to lower levels and decrease our energy dependency abroad, we need to increase energy savings.
In our daily lives, we should not waste natural gas and electricity, should not squander energy, and should use it efficiently. We should be more careful in our lifestyle, energy-focused consumption, and behavior. While taking into account recommendations on not wasting energy, we should consider what more we can do with lasting and long-term solutions for our living spaces. Focusing on how buildings and workplaces can be made more efficient structurally is important in this regard… For example, in making buildings energy-efficient, we can pay attention to insulation and the use of energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment," he said. On the other hand, emphasizing that Urban Transformation is an important lever in rapidly converting existing buildings into multi-comfort, high-energy-performance buildings, and that this opportunity should be well utilized, Nuri Bulut said: "Our Multi-Comfort Buildings approach in achieving near-zero-energy buildings is an important opportunity for everyone. It is possible to provide users with very low energy requirement, high-comfort homes and work areas through a holistic approach starting from the design phase," he said. Noting that measures such as keeping areas in front of radiators clear and using thermostatic radiator valves can be taken to contribute to energy efficiency, Nuri Bulut also adds that greater savings can be achieved with İzopan radiator backing panels.
Energy-saving tips from İzocam:
• Thick insulation materials with high insulation values should be preferred in buildings and installations. • Roof, wall and floor insulation should be carried out without interruption. • In central heating systems, pipes should be insulated with Glass Wool Prefabricated Pipe and valves with Valve Jacket. • Those purchasing homes should definitely check whether the insulation thickness complies with TS 825 Heat Insulation Rules for Buildings. Insulation should be applied to the building where the residence or workplace is located. This way, there will be reductions of up to 60% in your natural gas or electricity bills. • Roofs, walls and floors in contact with the outside, and walls and floors adjacent to unheated volumes should be insulated to a thickness at least complying with TS 825 Heat Insulation Rules for Buildings. • Windows and doors cause the loss of one-quarter of the heat in your home. In double or triple-glazed windows, heat loss is reduced by half. Airtightness in windows and doors is important in heat loss. Special weatherstripping tapes and foams should be used to prevent leaks. • Heat insulation panels with aluminum foil coating should be used behind radiators. • Thermostatic radiator valves can be used on radiators. With a thermostatic valve, once the room temperature reaches the set value, water circulation in the radiator stops and energy is saved by preventing the room from heating beyond the desired value. • If room temperature rises, radiator valves can be closed instead of opening windows.
