From 1923 to Eternity: Welcome to the Second Century
The concert "From 1923 to Eternity: Welcome to the Second Century", prepared by the Presidential Classical Turkish Music Chorus for the 100th anniversary of our Republic, consists of works by bridge figures who carried music culture between two periods during the transition from the Ottoman era to the Republic. The concert, which will begin at 11:30 on Sunday, 22 October at AKM Theatre Hall, will be conducted by Mehmet Güntekin. The soloists of the concert are Hakan Hataylı and Neval Güleç. The most surprising piece of the concert will be a rare work specially composed in honour of the declaration of the Republic. At the "100th Anniversary of Our Republic" concert by the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, dedicated to the 100th year of our Republic founded through great struggles and glorious victories, Can Çakmur, one of the brilliant pianists trained by our country, will perform Shostakovich's Second Piano Concerto. Also, the orchestra under the direction of British conductor Howard Griffiths will perform the most beautiful works by composers such as Cemal Reşit Rey, Ulvi Cemal Erkin and Ferit Tüzün, which reflect the spirit of our national melodies, at 20.00 on Friday, 27 October at AKM Theatre Hall.A magnificent musical feast
The Istanbul State Turkish Music Ensemble will take the stage with a repertoire related to our Republic in the 100th year of our Republic. In the 100th year of our Republic, Tekfen Philharmonic under principal conductor Aziz Shokhakimov, with the support of Tekfen Foundation, will perform the story of how our National Anthem was written, which writer Mehmet Altun reached as a result of his research in state and private archives and rare book shops, on 28 October at Atatürk Kültür Merkezi, named after the founder of our Republic, the Great Leader. On stage, 120 artists will perform their craft in a magnificent presentation featuring the most respected and beloved artists of our country in their respective fields. While theatre director Yiğit Sertdemir adapts the story of the National Anthem to the stage, the heated debates in Parliament and the words of Tunalı Hilmi or İsmet (İnönü) Bey, Commander of the Western Army General Staff, will be performed by our beloved theatre actors Ceyda Düvenci, Mert Fırat and Yiğit Sertdemir. As vocal artists, under conductor Masis Aram Gözbek, the MAGMA Philharmonic Chorus and Ankara Opera soloist tenor Faik Mansuroğlu, as well as leading musicians of our country Göksel Baktagir (qanun), Yurdal Tokcan (oud) and Ercan Irmak (ney) will accompany Sumru Ağıryürüyen on stage.
