Cement, Glass and Ceramics Exports Rose 78% in 5 Years
Erdem Çenesiz, Chairman of the Cement, Glass, Ceramics and Clay Products Exporters Association (ÇCSİB), stated in a statement that the sectors achieved significant success by increasing their exports by 78 percent over five years.
The 5th Export Champions Awards Ceremony was held this year by the Cement, Glass, Ceramics and Clay Products Exporters Association (ÇCSİB). Sector representatives and exporting companies attended the ceremony, where 78 awards were presented to 46 companies in total.
The opening of the ceremony was conducted by Mustafa Gültepe, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Council (TİM), Erdem Çenesiz, Chairman of the ÇCSİB Board of Directors, and Abdulhamit Akçay and Tansu Kumru, Vice Chairmen of the ÇCSİB Board of Directors. The ÇCSİB statement included Çenesiz's opening speech.
In his speech at the ceremony, Çenesiz shared export data, noting that the association's exports, which stood at USD 3.2 billion in 2018 as the first year, reached USD 5.6 billion as of the end of 2022.
Stating that they achieved significant success by increasing their exports by 78 percent over the past five years, Çenesiz said, "Moreover, these five years were marked by successive crises and uncertainties including the trade war between the United States and China, the Covid-19 pandemic, restrictions, the Russia-Ukraine War, energy supply and cost concerns, and global economic crisis concerns. Despite all these, our companies demonstrated through their achievements how flexible and resilient they are in the face of crises, showcasing their knowledge and experience. They added value to our sectors by best evaluating the opportunities within crises. I congratulate all our companies for their demonstrated success."
"We Generated Added Value Three Times the Average of Turkish Industrial Exports"
Informing that the total exports of the three sectors increased by 17 percent in value terms in 2022 compared to the previous year, Çenesiz stated: "Our three main sectors continue to rank among the top positions in world production and export rankings. In addition to the increase in our exports, we deepened our presence in existing markets while opening up to new markets through our environmentally conscious production in line with international standards, our logistics power, production capacity, human resources, and our quality in all areas. As a result of all these, we generated added value three times the average of Turkish industrial exports."
Exports Reached USD 3.3 Billion in the First Eight Months of This Year
Emphasizing that they started the 100th year of the Republic with the goal of increasing exports as in every year, Çenesiz said: "However, as a result of global economic slowdown, demand contraction due to crisis concerns, and cost increases, we revised our target due to the slowdown in the construction sector. We achieved USD 3.3 billion in exports in the first eight months of this year. Our goal is to maintain last year's export value while meeting the increased domestic demand following the earthquake. As of 2024, we believe that depending on global developments, we will increase our exports again and sustain this growth over many years. Just as we have successfully emerged from global crises over the years, we will emerge from this one with new successes."
Following the opening speeches, awards were presented at the ceremony in the categories of "Companies with the Highest Exports," "Company with the Highest Export Unit Price," and "Company with the Highest Export Growth" for the year 2022.
