Paint Season Begins

Turkey experienced one of its harshest winters recently, and we awaited the arrival of spring with eager anticipation. Finally, spring made itself felt, and with the meeting of the season's first warm winds with nature, the sun's positive energy began to illuminate our spirits. With the arrival of spring, the painting season opened and new products took their place on shelves. Every company determined the season's trend colours, and visits to building material stores and hardware shops began as users prepared for spring cleaning, with painting being its most essential element. Boyatürk Yapı Kimyasalları, taking the pulse of the sector, has prepared colourful and rich content for the March-April issue. In our Architecture section this issue, we covered the topic of "Art Deco". Among the structures we examined are the Champs-Elysees theatre and Grand Rex in Paris, the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building in America, and the Florin Court residence and Hoover Building in London. In our section Perspectives on Construction from Building Material Stores, we featured the views of merchants from Thursday Market regarding the sector. I believe you will read with interest the interviews we conducted with Yavuz Işık, Chairman of the Board of the European Ready-Mixed Concrete Association and Turkey Ready-Mixed Concrete Association, and İlhan Erem, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Uzertaş. Yavuz Işık answered our questions regarding THBB's fields of activity, the concrete quality and properties of existing residential buildings in Turkey, and urban regeneration practices.
