Boom Finds Funding for Mach-2.2 Supersonic Passenger Aircraft
Boom is currently producing a small-scale prototype of the supersonic passenger aircraft to demonstrate the aircraft's aerodynamic properties, the advanced composite materials used, and its propulsion system in flight.
Boom aims for Overture to be "the most community and environmentally conscious supersonic jet ever produced." The passenger aircraft is being designed to be compatible with next-generation sustainable alternative fuels.
Boom states that advanced aerodynamic properties and engines will bring Overture's carbon footprint to levels comparable to current international commercial-class aircraft in flight.
Among the aircraft's future customers are Virgin Group (London, United Kingdom) and Japan Airlines (Tokyo, Japan), which have placed pre-orders for a combined total of 30 Overture passenger aircraft.
