AstraZeneca's globally-run Young Health Program has been recognized with the Better Society Award in the "Best Partnership with an International Aid Organization" category. The Better Society Awards are given to partnerships that help create a more equitable, ethical and sustainable world for everyone. In 2010, AstraZeneca launched a global collaboration with the Young Health Program to raise awareness among young people of the risks and impact of non-communicable diseases. AstraZeneca committed to investing USD 35 million in funding for the Young Health Program through 2025 under this collaboration. Since 2010, the program has reached more than 9 million young people across 6 continents in 39 countries, including Turkey, and has provided training to more than 153,000 educators and health workers. The program aims to reach 5 million young people with health information.
AstraZeneca Turkey Country President Serkan Barış made the following remarks on the subject:
"Improving access to health services is one of our priorities. We believe that working to improve the health of society and future generations, and building strong health systems, are among the most important steps. While working to achieve this goal, we believe that young people have the power to reduce the burden created by diseases we face around the world. In this context, we offer programs that promote healthy living to support young people in making conscious choices for a longer and healthier life. Through our Young Health Program, we aim to achieve changes in risky behaviors associated with non-communicable diseases. Together with UNICEF and other business partners, we are conducting work that will help fill knowledge gaps on this subject and create comprehensive awareness about youth health. We are proud to receive this important award, which attests to our commitment to building a healthy future for people around the world. We will continue to support the health development of young people through our Young Health Program."
