ARCH+DSGN SUMMIT 2019 BRINGS TOGETHER ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN INDUSTRIES

  Arch+Dsgn Summit, this year took place between 5-6 April 2019 under the theme "The Future of Architecture and Design" at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Congress and Exhibition Palace. The summit, which brought together all creative industries and brought professionals and students from the architecture, interior design, graphic design and industrial product design sectors from Turkey and abroad, drew considerable interest. At the summit, sponsored by Baumit, presentations were delivered by leading figures in the architecture and design sectors within the framework of the theme. Furthermore, various events were organised including conferences, workshops, exhibitions, Mimarka Meetings and Pecha Kucha. The scientific board comprised Murat Sönmez (Chairman of the Scientific Board), Founder of MRTS Mimarlık Ofisi; Alper Derinboğaz, Founder of Salon Architects; Barış Atiker, Faculty Member at Bahçeşehir University; Berk İlhan, Product and Experience Designer; Can Tamirci, Founder of Tamirci Mimarlık; Deniz Dokgöz, Founding Partner at İkiartıbir Mimarlık; Derya Güleç Özer, Faculty Member at Yıldız Teknik University Architecture Department; Emre Kuzlu, Founding Partner at I-AM İstanbul; Emre Şavural, Founding Partner at FREA; Kutlu İnanç Bal, Founding Partner at İkikerebir; Nilüfer Kozikoğlu, Founder of Urban Atölye; and Ramazan Avcı, Founding Partner at SCRA Mimarlık. Panels on the future of architecture and design were organised with these sector professionals.

Through presentations by professionals active on the national and international stage, participants had the opportunity to access the latest developments and different perspectives on a wide range of topics specific to architecture and design.

At the summit, which attracted interest from sector professionals as much as from students, the Mimarka Meetings, which enabled the establishment of new connections in the sector, brought together Turkey's most successful architecture firms and experienced brands. At Arch+Dsgn Summit 2019, which creates an interactive environment where different stakeholders in the fields of architecture and design come together each year and exchange knowledge and experience, Pecha Kucha, which attracted considerable interest with its 20-second-20-slide concept, offered audiences brainstorming on different perspectives regarding the future of architecture and design. The iF Design Award 2019 "Architectural Project Award Winners Exhibition", which showcased projects that won in the architecture category of the iF Design Award 2019, one of the world's most prestigious design awards, offered visitors the opportunity to examine all details of the world's finest architectural designs in a 200 m² space. Another exhibition at the summit, "Preservation of Steadfastness: Istanbul's Future in Caricatures", curated by Doç. Dr. Deniz Dokgöz, created an environment for visitors to read Istanbul and different historical periods through the perspectives on the future offered by caricatures.
