Sabancı Üniversitesi Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences nanotechnology laboratories have developed "Antimic: Sustainable Hygiene" material that protects people from microbial formations that threaten human health, providing long-lasting and permanent hygiene and improving quality of life. Developed using sol-gel technique under the leadership of Yusuf Menceloğlu, Faculty Member at Sabancı Üniversitesi Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, "Antimic: Sustainable Hygiene" material provides continuous hygiene in environments with high human population density.

Effective against microorganisms for up to 60 days

The antimicrobial active component in the chemical structure has been found to protect against viruses. The fact that viruses survive on non-living surfaces for 24-48 hours underscores the importance of permanent disinfection on surfaces. Most disinfectants on the market are volatile chemicals, which means surfaces are exposed to microbial contamination again after application. When Antimic is applied to surfaces, a sol-gel reaction occurs that forms a nano-scale coating in a short time, and this protective layer does not lose its effectiveness for 30-60 days against any cleaning materials and daily use conditions. Antimic products are broad-spectrum, water-based, free of heavy metals and persistent toxic chemicals that would endanger human health, and featuring permanent adhesion to the applied surface. They provide comfortable protection through an extremely thin, glassy and elastic protective layer created on living spaces and textiles.

Ministry of Health approved

The Antimic product, which is patented by Sabancı Üniversitesi, is sold with Ministry of Health Type 2 registration. The product, which passed the "EPA, Protocol #01-1A" durability test, also had its performance tests verified in field and laboratory environments.
