Packaging Industry Discusses Economic Agenda in Istanbul

The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Association (CCIIST) brought together representatives of the packaging sector for a comprehensive consultation meeting to discuss current economic developments and sectoral transformation topics.
The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Association (CCIIST) convened packaging sector representatives in a comprehensive consultation meeting to address current economic developments and sectoral transformation issues.
The event examined inflation's effects on production and pricing, difficulties in raw material supply, labour costs, and the impact of European Union regulations on the sector; sustainability and efficiency-focused transformation processes were also evaluated through mutual exchange of views. The meeting aimed to enable sector representatives to discuss current challenges on common ground and assess opportunities for solution-oriented cooperation.
Seasonal supply difficulties in raw material procurement, rising logistics costs, and increases in labour costs were mutually shared by sector representatives as pressures affecting the industry. It was noted that increases in energy and labour costs have made cost optimisation in packaging production more critical.

European Union regulations and notably the effects of new legislation focused on sustainability on the sector were also discussed at the meeting. For companies exporting to or targeting growth in the EU market, compliance with environmental standards, recyclability criteria, and circular economy practices were emphasised as now being a strategic necessity. In this context, operational and financial difficulties companies face in compliance processes with regulations were also addressed.
Sustainable packaging practices and digital solutions to increase efficiency in production processes were discussed at the event, while an open and constructive dialogue was created among sector representatives. The meeting contributed to companies more clearly defining their common problem areas and evaluating opportunities for solution-oriented cooperation.
CCIIST Honorary Chairman and Bell Holding Board Chairman Livio Manzini, referring to the importance of the event, stated the following:
"The packaging sector holds a strategic position both due to its place at the centre of the production chain and its export potential. However, today our sector is undergoing a multi-layered process involving inflation, cost pressures and transformation requirements stemming from regulation. Consultation platforms of this type hold great value in terms of mutual experience sharing and the search for common solutions."
CCIIST Board Member Andrea Leo, in his remarks, drew attention to economic realities with the following statements:
"Rising costs on a global scale and transformation in European Union legislation are directing companies towards more efficient, more sustainable and more competitive production models. Today's meeting was an important gathering where sector representatives openly presented current challenges and evaluated them within a framework of collective wisdom. In the coming period, we aim to strengthen this dialogue platform and create concrete areas of cooperation."
CCIIST will continue to support information sharing and strategic cooperation among its members through thematic meetings it will organise in different sectors in the coming period.
