Alışan Lojistik Supports TEGV: "Don't Throw It Away, Donate It to Education"

Alışan Lojistik has decided to support TEGV's "Donate Don't Dump Project" by adding another initiative to its corporate social responsibility portfolio.

The project aims to collect unused electronic devices from more than 1,700 Alışan employees and their families for recycling, with revenue generated from the initiative supporting quality education for children.

Alışan Lojistik, which accelerated its environmental initiatives alongside the release of its sustainability report while continuing support for education, has decided to back the Turkey Education Volunteers Foundation (TEGV) "Donate Don't Dump Project" together with all employees and their families. The company will support bringing quality education to more children by generating revenue from donations of electronic waste—including computers, televisions, mobile phones, fax machines, printers and CD players that have reached the end of their useful life or are no longer needed by their users—for recycling.

Explaining the initiative, Alışan Lojistik CEO Damla Alışan said, "We have been collaborating with TEGV on various projects for some time. Our participation in the 'Donate Don't Dump' project is particularly important both for reducing our carbon footprint and as an extension of our education efforts launched under the name 'Alışan Carries Happiness.' As you know, electronic waste containing more than 1,000 harmful substances such as cobalt, barium and mercury, which are toxic, causes serious harm to human health and the environment when not properly disposed of and controlled. While organic waste like apple peels can easily decompose in nature, electronic waste does not decompose as easily and remains in the environment for many years. Therefore, electronic waste should not be treated as ordinary garbage. At this point, we as the entire Alışan family have decided, recognizing that improper disposal of electronic waste can cause irreversible environmental damage, to work with TEGV to ensure these wastes are collected and recycled through proper methods. On the other hand, providing quality education support to children is the most important factor that makes us happy. It should be our collective goal to leave a more livable world for future generations in every sense." Alışan also emphasized that, as highlighted in their published sustainability report, they aim to reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2030 by prioritizing similar projects.
