35 Years of Experience Against Fire

Protaş, a manufacturer of explosion-proof electrical equipment, marked its 35th anniversary. The company, a leading Turkish brand, shared its future vision and investment plans at the celebration event.

35 YEARS OF SAFETY IN EXPLOSIVE ENVIRONMENTS: PROTAŞ

Since 1989, Protaş has been providing design, manufacturing, sales and after-sales support services for explosion-proof electrical equipment, continuing to grow with its 35 years of expertise. Operating its production activities since 2006 in the Balıkesir Organized Industrial Zone, Protaş celebrated its 35-year journey at a reception held at Elite World Grand Küçükyalı Hotel, with its modern factory spanning 2,500 m² of enclosed space and a total of 5,000 m².

At the event, Prosense and Protaş General Manager Özkan Karataş and Protaş Engineering Founder and first General Manager Mustafa Öngay delivered speeches evaluating the company's past, present and future. The evening was highlighted by stand-up performances by Ali Congun and a stage performance by Pelin Yılmaz.

Prosense and Protaş General Manager Özkan Karataş, stating that properly understanding customer needs and expectations and providing fast and effective solutions accordingly is Protaş's primary objective, noted the following in his speech: "Prosense, which I established in 2006, became a technology company that pioneered gas and flame detection systems in Turkey. Our aim was to meet the country's needs in this field with the highest quality and make our mark on the global stage. Today, thanks to your support and confidence, we have proven ourselves not only in Turkey but also on the international platform. Behind this success lies our commitment to reliability, innovation and continuous improvement. We are pursuing at Protaş what we have achieved with Prosense. Protaş is a pioneering brand that was the first to produce Ex equipment in Turkey. Today we are celebrating Protaş's 35th year, but we are moving forward with a great vision to take this established brand even further. Our goal is to make Protaş, as we have done with Prosense, into a world brand. We are rapidly advancing our work in this direction. Thanks to the products produced by these two companies, people can work in safer environments against the dangers of explosive, flammable and toxic gases. Employees can do their work securely and return home to their loved ones safely. This is our greatest source of motivation. Tonight, we are bringing together both the innovative spirit of Prosense and the rooted heritage of Protaş. Both brands continue to make a difference in the sector with their commitment to safety, quality and innovation."

To grow further with new investments

Stating that they have more than 3,000 product varieties in product groups such as Ex lighting fixtures, Ex junction boxes, Ex control boxes, Ex plugs and sockets, Ex fittings and connection equipment, Ex emergency warning products, Ex grounding devices and clamps, Özkan Karataş said, "With this wide range of products, we are in a strong position as a solution partner for industrial facilities, electrical contracting companies and automation companies. At every stage of our production, we aim to provide reliable and high-performance solutions to our business partners by placing quality at the forefront. Our quality management system is continuously reviewed and improved in accordance with international standards, thus ensuring the excellence of our products and services."

Stating "Protaş currently holds an investment incentive certificate worth 5 million Euro. We aim to complete this investment within 3 years in line with our planned targets," Karataş noted that with this important investment, they aim to increase the company's production capacity and further strengthen its position in both local and global markets.

 "The baton must be passed on so the race continues"

At the event, Protaş Engineering Founder and first General Manager Mustafa Öngay also delivered a speech. Öngay shared the company's founding story with these words: "In the late 1970s, our country made intensive investments in the petrochemical sector, and these projects created a huge need for Ex-proof materials. However, at that time there was no production of this in our country. Therefore, all of these installation materials and equipment had to be imported from abroad in exchange for foreign currency. Pak Holding, which was already operating in the chemical and food sectors, established Pesaş company in 1978 to manufacture Ex-proof equipment, and I joined the team as a young engineer responsible for design and manufacturing. At the end of the 1980s, the market contracted and a decision was made to terminate Pesaş's activities. We, employees who had been trained and experienced in this business, could not accept the loss of this 10-year accumulated manufacturing knowledge and experience in our country, and we agreed with our employer to take over the operation. Bringing together employees as partners in a joint-stock company structure, we established Protaş. We began operations on 1 May 1989." Regarding Protaş joining forces with Prosense, Öngay noted: "The baton must be passed on so the race continues. By a fortunate coincidence, we met Prosense and Özkan, who compete in the same field with different products, produce electronics-focused ex-proof equipment, and whose name even has a 'pro' similarity, and two years ago we handed the baton to them without looking back. Now the baton is in their hands, I trust them for success and a better future, wish them good luck and good health, and leave the continuation of the story to them."
