Saadettin Çağan Re-elected as AKMİB President

AKMİB held its 2021 regular elective general assembly. Following the meeting, Saadettin Çağan, the incumbent chairman of AKMİB, was re-elected as chairman. The AKMİB 2021 regular elective general assembly was held in the conference room at AKİB headquarters. At this general assembly, a single slate led by incumbent Board Chairman Saadettin Çağan was presented for election. All 34 votes cast were for Saadettin Çağan, and Çağan renewed his mandate of confidence.

Çağan Emphasized He Will Work with Great Dedication in the New Term

At the general assembly, chaired by Ferit Dizman on behalf of Gemsa Boya Ambalaj Malzeme San. Tic. Ltd. Şti., AKMİB members determined the board chairman who will serve for 4 years, as well as the principal and alternate members of the board of directors and supervisory board, and the delegates who will represent AKMİB at the general assembly of the Turkish Exporters Council. Saadettin Çağan, who received all 34 votes, was re-elected as AKMİB chairman. AKMİB Board Chairman Saadettin Çağan made remarks following the election. Thanking the general assembly members, Çağan emphasized that together with the board of directors composed of strong names from the sector, they would continue working with great dedication in the new term to elevate the Turkish chemical industry to the highest level on the world stage.

"We Will Provide Stronger Support for Our Country's Development"

In his remarks, Çağan stated: "Our Union, which achieved a 62 percent increase compared to the previous year in 2021 and realized USD 4.18 billion in exports, continues to break export records in 2022 by evaluating in the best manner the opportunities arising from near-shoring trends in a period when raw material, freight and energy costs are rising exponentially worldwide. In the new term, by benefiting from the knowledge and experience of our venerable exporting brother Uğur Ateş, who will continue to serve as Vice-Chairman of the Board, and with the enthusiasm and dedication of our board members, we will work resolutely to ensure our sector holds the highest positions in our country and region's exports. We will treat the end of the Covid-19 pandemic as an advantage and enter an intense work schedule ranging from participation in fairs targeting markets to the organization of trade delegations. In the new term, we have identified the Turkish Republics and African countries as our target markets. Accordingly, we will refine our plans and provide stronger support for our country's development."
