Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji Qualifies for EUR 3.4 Million Grant

The HYDROMOD project, developed under the coordination of Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji, has secured EUR 3.4 million in grant support from EUREKA, Europe's leading R&D support platform. The project, which aims to pioneer clean mobility infrastructure with mobile and modular hydrogen refueling stations, will be field-tested within three years.

The HYDROMOD project, developed under the coordination of Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji, has secured EUR 3.4 million in grant support from EUREKA, Europe's leading R&D support platform. The project, which aims to pioneer clean mobility infrastructure through mobile and modular hydrogen refuelling stations, will be tested in the field over three years.

The HYDROMOD project, conducted in collaboration with partners from Turkey and South Korea, will deliver a flexible, secure and sustainable energy solution through artificial intelligence, sensor technologies and IIoT integration. The project will advance climate neutrality goals and open a new chapter in the hydrogen ecosystem.

The Mobile Hydrogen Refuelling Station (HYDROMOD) Project, coordinated by Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji A.Ş., has been approved for support under the Eurogia2030 programme within the EUREKA initiative, an international R&D platform established by European countries and the European Commission. The project, with a total budget of EUR 3.4 million, has been deemed eligible for partial funding through grant allocation.
HYDROMOD aims to develop modular and mobile refuelling stations (HRS) to enable safe, efficient and flexible distribution of hydrogen. The project offers an innovative solution to challenges faced by fixed systems, such as high installation costs and limited flexibility, and will comply with SAE J2601 and ISO 19880 standards.

Expected to be operational within three years
The system will be designed with integrated artificial intelligence, sensor technologies and industrial internet of things (IIoT), and will be tested in the field as a scalable and secure solution applicable in urban and rural areas. The project is expected to reach Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 within three years.

Following successful completion of the project, HYDROMOD's performance and cost-effectiveness will be validated through operational tests, contributing directly to the expansion of clean mobility infrastructure and achievement of climate neutrality goals.

The HYDROMOD Project is being implemented through collaboration with expert organisations from Turkey and South Korea. Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji A.Ş. serves as project coordinator from Turkey. With participation from Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) from South Korea, the Turkish side of the project will be managed under the coordination of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), Eurogia's national representative.

"We are taking a pioneering role in the hydrogen ecosystem"
Commenting on the project's approval, Mustafa Kemal Güngör, General Director of Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji, said:

"As Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji, with the HYDROMOD Project we aim to contribute not only to future energy infrastructure but also to our country's technical expertise in the hydrogen sector. Through mobile and modular systems, it will be possible to develop more flexible and sustainable solutions in the transition to clean energy. This support, which we have developed with our strong partners and received from Europe, is of great significance in confirming the vision and feasibility of our project."
