Akdeniz Chemson Receives 3 Awards

Akdeniz Chemson, world leader in PVC stabilizers, has received medals from independent business sustainability rating provider EcoVadis in its 2021 Corporate Assessment, earning silver for its operations in Austria and Turkey, and bronze for Australia.   OYAK Group Chemistry Company Akdeniz Chemson has returned from the evaluation conducted by independent business sustainability rating provider EcoVadis with awards. In the assessment that analyzes companies' corporate social responsibility practices according to the sector in which they operate, the company's size, and geographic location, Akdeniz Chemson demonstrated success in winning medals in three countries: silver for Austria and Turkey, and bronze for Australia.

In the EcoVadis assessment, which is based on 21 environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria focusing on environment, employee and human rights, ethics and sustainable sourcing and evaluates more than 75,000 companies, Akdeniz Chemson qualified to receive 2 silver and 1 bronze medal.     Monitoring its sustainability performance continuously in line with OYAK's sustainability policy and strategy, Akdeniz Chemson improves its performance day by day by disseminating good practice examples. Implementing the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and conducting all its activities responsibly at its facilities, Akdeniz Chemson supports the effective adoption of environmental awareness by employees, suppliers and contractors.         About In 1942, in Wallsend, a city near Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England, Cookson began manufacturing lead salt as a stabilizer for flexible PVC. Shortly after, Cookson opened a production facility in Sydney, Australia. In 1976, Akdeniz Kimya was founded in Izmir as a company manufacturing and selling PVC stabilizers and other industrial chemicals. In 1986, German stabilizer manufacturer Chemetall and British Cookson Group combined their operations under the name Chemson in a joint venture and relocated their headquarters to the Frankfurt am Main region of Germany. The company started operations at its facilities in Germany, England and Australia. In 2000, following a management buyout, Chemson Polymer-Additive AG was established in Arnoldstein, Austria.
