Chemistry Sector's Unifying Force: With elections approaching at the Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association - İKMİB, Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board at Beta Kimya A.Ş., one of the sector's key players, announced his candidacy for the chairmanship of İKMİB.

Announcing his candidacy at a press conference attended by representatives from primary chemicals and other chemical subsectors, emphasizing unity, Pelister stated that with the slogan "Together We Are Strong" the sector will continue to grow jointly, and if elected president, all chemical subsectors will work together in the administration.

Pelister emphasized that İKMİB, representing more than 6,000 exporters, has achieved significant development under current Chairman Murat Akyüz and the exporters have recorded substantial growth. He said that after taking over the leadership, they will continue to contribute to the development of chemical exports and that their target is to establish chemical exports as the second largest sector within total exports.

Emphasizing that they will adopt a working approach that embraces both primary chemicals and all subsectors, Pelister said, "As Chairman of the Board at Beta Kimya A.Ş., I am proud to be a presidential candidate for İKMİB, one of the important structures of our sector.

However, I would like you to view my candidacy not as an individual candidacy but as a candidacy in which the strength of the chemistry sector, which holds an important place in Turkey's export economy, is united. Because we, in the unity of chemical exporters, are strong together. Our chemistry is one and our priority is to succeed together.

Our election campaign work is progressing rapidly. We are receiving very positive feedback from our exporters and our sectors. This excites us and increases our responsibility. Of course, there will be competition in the elections. We wish success to our other candidate friends. We hope the election competition will proceed fairly and be concluded fairly," he said.

"Our Goal Is to Establish the Second Position"

Providing information about chemical sector exports at the meeting, Adil Pelister said, "In 2017, declared as the Year of Export Momentum, with the great contributions of our valued Chairman Murat Akyüz and the strength of our exporters, together we achieved significant success.

Despite difficulties occurring in neighboring regions and neighboring countries throughout the year negatively affecting sector exports, we are proud that we reached our target of USD 16 billion in chemical exports. After the elections, our goal is to carry forward the baton we will take over from our valued management.

Our primary goal will be to establish the Turkish Chemical Sector, which ranked third among Turkey's top exporting sectors in 2017, in the second position. At the same time, we are aware of the responsibilities that fall on us as exporters in reaching our country's growth targets.

We will increase many of our activities to strengthen our sector's position in foreign markets and increase exports. We will establish a budget balance proportionate to the sizes of our sectors.

As has been the case until now, we will continue to work towards increasing exports, diversifying exported products and giving our products competitive power. We will ensure that our members establish strong international connections and open up to new markets.

I would like to state that we will continue our support to our members as in previous years with all our strength and we will continue our efforts with great motivation and momentum to achieve our sector's goals," he said.
