Global Appointment from Merck Türkiye: Egemen Bilgin Named META Regional Director

A new global appointment has taken place within Merck Türkiye. Egemen Bilgin, who has been working at the company, was appointed Regional Director of Merck Patient Safety for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META), effective 1 April 2026.

Bilgin is a graduate of Yeditepe University Faculty of Pharmacy. He completed his Master's degree in Pharmacoeconomics and Pharmacoepidemiology at the same university, and his PhD in Toxicology.
From Merck Turkey to global responsibilities
Egemen Bilgin joined Merck Turkey in 2022, where he served as Local Patient Safety Officer and as Pharmacovigilance Manager in the Southern Africa organization. During this period, he took responsibility for management and oversight of pharmaceutical safety processes and regulatory compliance.
Bilgin also served as Project Manager in the Global Patient Safety Monitoring Team during February–July 2025, contributing to international patient safety initiatives.
In his new role, Egemen Bilgin will be responsible for patient safety processes in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region.
According to a statement from the company, the number of Merck Turkey employees assigned to positions abroad over the past seven years has reached 13.
