Kaleseramik received the ÇEVKO "2018 Green Spot (Yeşil Nokta) Industry Awards" for its "Saving in Wooden Packaging Materials" project. "We aim to leave a better world for future generations by developing environmentally friendly solutions at every step, from design to production," said Okan Gedik, General Manager of Kaleseramik. The Green Spot Industry Awards, organized for the fourth time by ÇEVKO Environmental Protection and Packaging Waste Assessment Foundation, were held in a ceremony in Istanbul. The project "Saving in Wooden Packaging Materials," developed by Kaleseramik's Granite Factory Packaging and Maintenance with Investments and Project Division, was awarded in the category of Prevention Applications by Reducing Resources in Packaging Design.

Our Goal is to Consume Less Energy at Every Step

Highlighting new solutions at every step from design to production with targets for less water and less energy consumption, Kaleseramik General Manager Okan Gedik said: "As Kaleseramik, a leader in shaping Turkey's ceramics industry, we recognize our responsibility with regard to energy and the environment. With this awareness, we are now adopting a new business model and approaching all our activities with a holistic perspective. With the concept of sustainability at the center of this approach, we aim to hand over resources to future generations not diminished, but rather enriched.

55 Percent Less Tree Use, 18 Percent Increase in Loading Capacity

On behalf of Kaleseramik, the award was received by Burak Çakır, Secondary Production Manager, and Resul Şen, Packaging Unit Manager. Through the project developed under Kaleseramik, the design of wooden crate pallets was modified to use 55 percent less wood. Considering that the average growth time of a pine tree is 15 years, the new design contributes an average of 978 tons of oxygen per year. Additionally, an average of 18 percent more products can be transported in a single shipment, contributing to reduced carbon emissions during transport.
