İKMİB Chairman Adil Pelister issued a written assessment today regarding Turkey's third-quarter 2021 growth figures announced by TÜİK.
"Exports grew 25.6 percent year-on-year in the third quarter"
İKMİB Chairman Pelister stated: "Turkey's economy, which grew 7 percent in the first quarter and 21.7 percent in the second quarter, achieved 7.4 percent growth in the third quarter, which is encouraging. There is also 2.7 percent growth compared to the second quarter. Production and export-driven growth is not only our country's growth strategy but also important in terms of sustainability. We see that exports and public expenditures contributed most to growth, with industrial growth at 10 percent and the services sector at 20.7 percent. Net exports' contribution to growth was 6.8 percentage points. Exports grew 25.6 percent year-on-year in the third quarter. Our chemical sector, which is among the leading contributors to growth and the country's economy through production and export power, grew 36.78 percent with USD 6.26 billion in exports realized in the third quarter. On a volume basis, there was 12.50 percent growth in the third quarter. Chemical products and materials exports realized in the first three quarters of this year reached USD 18.25 billion with a 38.95 percent increase. As the chemical sector, one of the drivers of this strong growth performance, we are preparing to set a new export record with USD 24 billion this year."Advertisement
