Exports from the Black Sea Region to Russia Rose by 61%

Exports from the Black Sea Region to the Russian Federation increased by 61 percent in the first four months of 2021 compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 110 million 390 thousand. Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), noted that Trabzon had the largest share in exports, stating: "USD 63 million 747 thousand 26 was exported from Trabzon to Russia during this period. Accordingly, exports from Trabzon increased by 71 percent compared to the same period last year. Additionally, Trabzon was the province that single-handedly carried out 58 percent of exports to Russia." he said. Drawing attention to the fact that exports from Trabzon to Russia have shown continuous development as in previous years, Kalyoncu continued: "While fresh fruit and vegetable products are predominantly exported from Trabzon to the Russian Federation, fish exports have been continuously increasing in recent years.

Rainbow trout, referred to as Black Sea salmon, is exported to the Russian Federation in frozen form. Rize carries out the largest share of Black Sea salmon exports from the region to the Russian Federation. Thus, Rize became the third city to carry out the most exports from the Black Sea to Russia." he said.

Karabük achieved the largest increase in exports from the Black Sea Region to Russia in January-April of this year compared to the same period last year. Karabük's exports were USD 24 thousand 991 in the January-April period last year, while they reached USD 2 million 552 thousand 363 in the same period this year. Exports to Russia during this period were carried out in 20 different sectors. Fresh vegetable and fruit products provided the most important share of exports with revenue of USD 54 million 580 thousand 485. Aquatic products and animal husbandry goods, chemical substances, and defense and aerospace industry were also among the leading sectors. Source: AA
