EİB Lifted Exports to USD 17.629 Billion Over the Past Year with 27 Percent Growth

During the January-April period of 2022, EİB increased its exports by 27 percent, bringing USD 6.205 billion to Turkey. Over the past 12 months, EİB raised exports to USD 17.629 billion with 27 percent growth. Izmir Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association achieved the highest export growth in April with a 66 percent increase, exporting USD 19 million.

Izmir Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association Became the Top Exporting Association

Izmir Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association increased its exports to USD 271 million in April with 42 percent momentum and became the top exporting association. Looking at other sectors, Izmir Ready-Made Clothing and Apparel Exporters Association was identified as the second-largest exporting association with a 27 percent increase and USD 148 million in exports. Izmir Mining Exporters Association signed off on USD 118 million in exports with 26 percent growth. Izmir Textiles and Raw Materials Exporters Association achieved USD 39 million in exports in April. Among agricultural and food associations, Izmir Aquatic Products and Animal Products Exporters Association was the top exporter with USD 136 million in exports, a 33 percent increase.

"We Can Exceed Our USD 18 Billion Target and Bring USD 19 Billion in Exports to Our Country"

Izmir Exporters Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi stated that 11 associations increased their exports in April. Eskinazi said: "The increase in commodity prices is reflected in export prices. With 29 percent growth in April, we reached the highest monthly export figure in EİB history and also exported above the country average. In the USD 1.798 billion in exports we achieved in April, industrial products represented 34 percent growth with USD 1.142 billion, while agricultural products represented 20 percent growth with USD 508 million. Our mining exporters in the Aegean region brought USD 118 million in foreign currency to the country with 26 percent growth." Eskinazi added: "Over the past 12 months, aquatic products and animal products, fresh fruits and vegetables and processed products, and mining are our sectors that exceeded USD 1 billion in exports. Our ready-made clothing and apparel sector exceeded USD 1.5 billion and our ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector exceeded USD 2.5 billion over the past year. We forecast that we will reach our USD 18 billion export target in May or June 2022. If our current momentum continues at this pace, we can exceed our USD 18 billion target and bring USD 19 billion in exports to our country."
