Industrial Exports from EİB Surpass USD 10 Billion
Industrial exports from Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri reached USD 10.074 billion in the past 12 months, a 39% increase.
Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator President of Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri, announced that the sectors under EİB generated USD 4.622 billion of the total USD 10.074 billion in industrial exports.
"In our industrial exports to 203 countries and regions, Germany leads with USD 1.248 billion, Italy with USD 678 million, Spain with USD 657 million, the USA with USD 639 million, and the United Kingdom with USD 636 million. Among the unions under Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri, Ege Demir ve Demirdışı Metaller İhracatçıları Birliği is the only union to exceed the USD 2 billion export threshold, with exports rising 76% to USD 2.493 billion in the past 12 months. Ege Hazırgiyim ve Konfeksiyon İhracatçıları Birliği's exports increased 15% to USD 1.534 billion, Ege Tekstil ve Hammaddeleri Birliği's exports grew 48% to USD 408 million, and Ege Deri ve Deri Mamulleri İhracatçıları Birliği's exports rose 50% to USD 184 million."
Our efforts to establish new exporter unions under EİB will continue
Eskinazi noted that there are sectors not represented in EİB but strong in exports, stating that sectors without unions in EİB account for USD 5.451 billion, or 54% of the region's industrial exports.
"İzmir is a city at the peak of sectoral diversity. As Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri, we have been working for years to establish unions for sectors, particularly the chemicals sector, that are not represented within our organization but are strong exporters. We provide all government support and services to every sector. We need a new structure that will represent all exports from the Aegean Region. Our efforts to establish new exporter unions under EİB will continue, with priority given to the chemicals, electrical-electronics, cement-ceramics and earth products, automotive suppliers, machinery, and air conditioning industries."
Circular Economy Design and Production Competition from EİB
Jak Eskinazi stated: "We have also initiated work to establish Turkey's first Renewable Energy Equipment and Services Exporters Union. In 2022, EİB, in joint organization with the textile, ready-to-wear, leather, mining, ferrous and non-ferrous metals unions, will organize the "Circular Economy Design and Production Competition," open to industrial design, fashion design, architecture, and interior architecture students for the first time in Turkey. Recently, we announced our Sustainability Report to the public, a first among Turkish Exporter Unions and an example for the entire country."
Exports of chemicals and chemical products increased 62% to USD 1.960 billion, automotive exports rose 38% to USD 888 million, electrical and electronics reached USD 739 million, air conditioning industry exports increased 19% to USD 682 million, machinery and parts exports grew 19% to USD 526 million, cement, glass, ceramics and earth products exports rose 22% to USD 385 million, defense and aerospace industry exports surged 132% to USD 153 million, carpet exports increased 37% to USD 74 million, ship and yacht services exports grew 48% to USD 33 million, other industrial products exports amounted to USD 6 million, and jewelry exports reached USD 1 million.
