SABIC Opens New PP Compounding Line
SABIC, a leading company in the chemical industry, announced via a virtual inauguration event that its new polypropylene (PP) compounding line has commenced operations in Genk, Belgium. The new line is an addition to SABIC's existing production capacity for SABIC® polypropylene compounds at the Genk site and will utilise feedstock from SABIC's PP facilities in Gelsenkirchen, Germany and Geleen, the Netherlands.
It has been equipped with state-of-the-art large-scale extrusion technology to meet the market's growing demand for reliable and consistent supply of high-quality, high-performance PP compounds.
Lada Kurelec, General Manager of SABIC PP and E4P* Business Unit, said: "This investment is part of our business strategy for growth through advanced PP compound solutions designed to help our customers develop next-generation lightweight applications in sectors such as automotive, appliances and consumer goods. The added capacity also increases our on-site production flexibility to introduce innovative new PP polymer technologies without compromising the supply security of established compound products."
The unique virtual inauguration was hosted by Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, Vice General Manager of Petrochemicals, and other SABIC executives, providing insight into how customers can benefit from the company's expanded capacity to drive innovation in its markets. Mr Al-Fageeh said: "We all see industries rapidly developing with increasing demand for high-performance PP compounds that are lighter yet strong and durable, while also meeting stringent standards."
