Production recently launched at Milliken & Company's impressive new purification facility in Blacksburg, South Carolina will increase access to Millad® NX® 8000 additive for customers worldwide. The facility will enable Milliken, a leading global producer of plastic additives and colorants, to meet rising future demand for these products.

Cindy Boiter, Head of Milliken Chemical Division, said: "We are pleased to report that the facility has begun producing, and we plan to reach full operating capacity by the end of 2022 and increase Millad production by 50 percent."

"This facility, announced earlier this year, represents the largest purification facility investment in Milliken's history."

Millad NX 8000 helps reduce carbon emissions by enabling converters to increase production efficiency while reducing energy consumption during processing.

This becomes more important than ever in a period of unprecedented increases in energy prices. In addition, these certified energy savings allow brand owners using clarified PP with Millad NX 8000 ECO to display the highly desired UL Environmental Claim Verification label on injection molded parts.

Boiter also noted the impressive effort expended to make the facility opening a reality: "We greatly appreciate all the efforts of our partners who worked to make this facility exceptional."

Milliken has long been recognized for its commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration and sustainability.

Recognized for 16 years by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the "World's Most Ethical Companies," the firm draws on its 157-year history and extensive chemical expertise to design products that make the world a better place and create a healthier future for generations to come.

Millad NX 8000 is an excellent example of applying innovation through chemistry to advance sustainability.

Polypropylene (PP) is durable, lightweight, highly recyclable and, thanks to Millad, offers glass-like clarity. This improvement enables PP to be used in applications such as thin-walled packaging.

At the same time, it is one of the least energy-intensive polymers to manufacture and recycle compared to other transparent polymers. Additionally, in late July, the How2Recycle® labeling program elevated the eligibility of rigid PP tubs, bottles, pitchers and jars to the "Widely Recyclable" level in the United States.
