ECONAMID® for Office from DOMO – Comfortable, Stylish and Sustainable

As design and plastics industries work toward a circular economy, Orangebox, an innovation-focused workplace design company, has launched a new office task chair designed for sustainability and engineered to be 99% recyclable at end of product life.

Manufactured using DOMO's ECONAMID® polyamides, Kirn delivers superior comfort while being genuinely smart for the environment. Polyamides are versatile, lightweight, durable and resilient plastics, making them ideally suited to many industrial and design needs, and with ECONAMID® they become more sustainable. Developed from recycled post-industrial textile fibres, ECONAMID® polyamides provide significant sustainability credentials compared to virgin polymer-based solutions. Andrea Rizzo, Distribution Manager at DOMO, said: "By utilizing unique fibre raw materials, monitoring our energy consumption and using renewable energy sources, we have managed to produce this superior quality 'green' product range. ECONAMID® can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 97% compared to virgin plastics and provides substantial water savings in production." Intuitive design and soft-touch fibres are engineered to deliver continuous, durable three-dimensional support for all shapes and sizes. Beyond product longevity and material efficiency, Kirn's architectural and engineering design has resulted in a simpler product made from fewer parts and using less material. At end of working life, the chair's material selection and design for disassembly will enable 99% of the chair to be recycled, with large parts bearing material identifier marks. The Kirn office task chair was developed by Orangebox with the support of preferred plastics moulder Linear Plastics and DOMO's Pan-European distributor Ultrapolymers.
