A Laboratory to Be Named After Renowned Turkish Scientist Prof. Dr. Hadis Morkoç to Open at İTÜ

A laboratory will be opened at Istanbul Technical University in the name of Prof. Dr. Hadis Morkoç, a scientist who graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1964 and continued his work at Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States. The opening of the "Prof. Dr. Hadis Morkoç Electro-Optical Devices R&D Laboratory," which has been established within the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, will take place on 18 May Wednesday at 14:00 in the faculty building. A scientist who graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1964 and continued his work at Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States, Prof. Dr. Hadis Morkoç will have a laboratory opened in his name at Istanbul Technical University. The opening ceremony, to be conducted by Istanbul Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca and Istanbul Technical University alumnus Prof. Dr. Hadis Morkoç, will be followed by a discussion session between the distinguished scientist Morkoç and Istanbul Technical University members. On the same day, a newly developed medical device that could pioneer advances in vascular surgery will also be presented within the scope of the laboratory. Prof. Morkoç, who is counted among the world's five best researchers, is also mentioned as a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work in the field of microelectronics. Morkoç, who received his education in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 1964 and worked for a period on transistors and microelectronics topics, continued his work in the United States after completing his master's degree at Istanbul Technical University. It is also expected that he will provide support for research activities in collaboration with Istanbul Technical University researchers at the laboratory to be opened in his name at Istanbul Technical University.
