Dermatologist Dr. Burçak Bozdemir Aral from Acıbadem Kozyatağı Hospital notes that numerous factors can trigger sweating, ranging from ambient temperature and physical activity to psychological reasons, certain diseases, and even excess weight. "In individuals experiencing increased sweating, it is essential to investigate whether a serious underlying condition exists. If sweating is not related to any disease or medication use, a person can prevent excessive sweating by following some simple rules," she states. Dermatologist Dr. Burçak Bozdemir Aral has shared 10 effective preventive measures and recommendations against sweating.

Wear Light-Colored and Cotton Clothing

Choosing light-colored garments on summer days ranks among the leading factors to reduce the sun's effects. Avoid tight-fitting clothes and garments with high synthetic content. Prefer cotton fabrics and loosely woven clothing that can absorb your sweat.

Drink Plenty of Water

Contrary to common belief, consuming plenty of fluids does not increase sweating. Water helps maintain body temperature balance. When sweating is intense, salt loss from the body also occurs. Therefore, in addition to drinking plenty of water, consume mineral water to maintain sodium levels within a healthy range.

Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol

Excessive coffee and tea consumption, as well as alcohol consumption, trigger sweating and increase fluid loss, so keep away from caffeinated beverages and alcohol.

Pay Attention to Your Diet

Very hot, spicy, and fatty foods as well as onions and garlic increase sweating, so be careful when consuming them. Choose light and plain foods instead of fast food and heavy meals.

Drink Sage Tea

Dermatologist Dr. Burçak Bozdemir Aral states, "Sage tea and tomato juice are among the beverages that reduce the effectiveness of sweat glands, so you can consume them in moderation."

Lose Your Excess Weight

Excess weight is one of the main factors leading to sweating. Therefore, to protect your overall health and reduce sweating, get rid of excess weight through a healthy diet. Seek professional support if necessary.

Pay Attention to Hygiene

Bathe at least once a day. After bathing, dry thoroughly and use antiperspirant products. Always change your underwear and clothes after every bath.

Ventilate Your Surroundings

Frequently ventilate the space where you are, your home, and your office during the day. Providing air circulation somewhat reduces sweating.

Avoid Excessive Movement

Avoid excessive physical activity as it increases sweating. Avoid going outside during midday hours when sun rays are most direct unless necessary. If your work requires you to be constantly outdoors and in the sun, try to rest during appropriate times by taking breaks.

Do Not Shower with Hot Water

Showering with hot water raises body temperature and causes excessive sweating. To maintain body temperature balance, bathe with lukewarm or, if possible, cold water.
