National Archer Mete Gazoz Becomes Olympic Champion!
In the final match at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Turkish archer Mete Gazoz defeated Italian Mauro Nespoli 6-4 to become Olympic champion. Our national athlete achieved this success by bringing to our country both the first archery medal in Olympic history and Turkey's first gold medal at Tokyo 2020!
On the 8th day of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Turkish archer Mete Gazoz won the gold medal by defeating Italian Mauro Nespoli 6-4 in the individual recurve bow final. In the first round match held on Thursday, 29 July at the Yumenoshima Archery Field, Mete Gazoz defeated Luxembourg's Jeff Henckels, and in the second round competition he beat Australian Ryan Tyack, advancing to the last 16.
